RINO BURR BACKS MCRORY AFTER TRUMP ENDORSES BUDD FOR US SENATE

Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) is backing former North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory in the race to succeed him, after former President Donald Trump threw his support behind Rep. Ted Budd (R-N.C.).

Burr’s upcoming retirement has triggered over a dozen people to launch bids, many of them Republican. But Burr told Politico that McCrory is the only Republican “that can win the general election.”

“Pat McCrory has a commanding advantage,” Burr said.

Trump endorsed Budd during the North Carolina Republican Convention in early June.

“This gentleman is going to be your next senator. He’s going to be somebody you’re going to be so proud of. He will fight like hell. He will fight like nobody will fight,” Trump told the crowd.

He also mentioned McCrory.

“You can’t pick people who have already lost two races and do not stand for our values,” Trump said.

Burr told Politico: “I can’t tell you what motivates him. I’ve never seen individuals endorse a candidate a year before the primary. That’s unusual.”

In a statement sent to The Epoch Times on Facebook, McCrory said: “I welcome an open dialog on the matter important to North Carolina and our country.”

The endorsement tells us more about McCrory than it does about Burr.

No they don’t. An endorsement from any RINO is a death knell for that candidate, at least in the current political environment.

They do get it. They are the GOP Wing of the Globalists who can fool some of our people. Agents of the Global Left dressed as Conservatives.

McCrory failed to win re-election in his last statewide run for Governor. Why would Burr think he is the only Republican who can win the Senate race.

Meanwhile In 2020 Mark Robinson, a genuine and very unashamed conservative, one the statewide race for Lt. Governor. President Trump also handily carried the state.

Could it be Senator Burr is the one out of touch with the voters of the state?

Is there a B-U-cons-cons naming requirement there?

Going to donate to Budd’s campaign. I’m not sure of the differences between Budd and McCrory, however Trump endorsed Budd, so that is good enough for me.

Yeah - Burr is a total RINO.

He was Adam Schiff's counterpart in the Senate; the Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. He let Trump twist in the wind for 3 years during the Russian collusion hoax and the ridiculous impeachment farce.

He engaged in insider trading over the Made in China virus.

Then he used pretzel logic to justify impeaching Trump for the non-existent "insurrection" of Jan 6.

It's a real disappointment that McCrory would even want an endorsement from Richard Burr.

If North Carolina wants more illegal aliens, they will vote for more Bush League Republicans.

South Carolina only elects Assistant Democrats.

McCrory failed to win re-election in his last statewide run for Governor.

If you lived in NC, you would know that in 2016, McCrory had a lead until around 8 pm. Following "issues" at some of the polling places in Durham County (the most Democratic County in NC), the polls in that county were kept open for a couple of hours until Cooper had more than enough votes to narrowly beat McCrory. He did not do as well in the Charlotte area (where he lives and had been mayor) because some were upset about a toll road that he supported. IMO, a governor who signed the so-called "Bathroom Bill" is anything but a RINO! Although I LOVE and sorely miss President Trump, I cannot wait to vote for Pat again! The governorship was absolutely stolen from him, just as Trump's presidency was stolen from him. I love Mark Robinson, but he has not chosen to run for governor in 2024.

I do live in NC. I also know McCrory stupidly made the decision to widen the heavily traveled I-77 north of Charlotte by signing a 50 year contract to turn it into a toll road. This decision outraged the average Joes commuting to Charlotte from counties north of Charlotte on I77. Looking at the returns on Election Day 2016 compared to Election Day 2012, the shift in votes in those counties was more than enough to give Cooper the victory, even with additional magic votes Cooper received in Durham County. Had McCrory funded I77 expansion with highway money, like he did the I-85 widening project, he would have been reelected based on the numbers.

McCrory made the fatal flaw of allowing Cooper to set the agenda for the campaign and define the issues. I recall McCrory being extremely battered by the media and Democrat PR campaign against him on the Bathroom Bill and Duke Energy Coal Ash. For some reason traditional Republicans can’t bring themselves to take of the gloves and fight the good fight like Trump and Robinson. Nor can they bring themselves to bloody their opponents with real or perceived issues. Once again, he and his organization were not prepared for the election night shenanigans and they didn’t fight it with any energy in the days after the election.

We are where we are in our country’s history because Republicans view politics as a gentleman’s sport like golf, not the no rule urban brawl tactics the Democrats use. If you bring a handshake to a battle and your opponent comes in blazing with an AR-15, you are going to lose. McCrory seems to be a nice guys. In war, nice guys finish last.

What you say is true! After I posted my comment, I thought “Soul of the South” could very well be from NC, but, in my opinion, Burr and McCrory have nothing in common! I have no use for Richard Burr at all! I can still see him "cosying up" to Mark Warner in the Intelligence Committee hearings! Since I am from the coast, I was not even aware of the toll road issue.

I have always despised Roy Cooper! All he did as Attorney General was run for Governor and I can remember how horrified I was that he was stealing the Governor's race right before our very eyes! I was so naive that I thought something like that only happened in other states! I did not know how very important that race would be until I saw the dictator Cooper became during the pandemic!
