No one will miss the NCAA. They used to rationn television games and destroy certain programs while favoring others. They let Penn State run their sex scams and cheat at will. They put Florida on years of probation and never really explained why.

You forgot the various young coed “Hostesses” that the schools pay to “Show the boys around”.

No one does that with engineering students. Granted, for good reason. They typically are to busy.

The NCAA has always struck me as an archaic racket.

LOL- they are getting “free travel” as they are traveling to games which make billions for the NCAA and schools.

If you think they don’t “get connections” you are a fool.

LOL- they don’t?? So you’re saying schools don’t have coeds that chauffeur ordinary students thinking about attending a certain school around campus in the hopes they sign up??

Yeah, they’re addicted to maintaining an illusion that has no meaning and in so doing they hold athletes to a standard no other student is held to. Really nobody is going to stop a CSC student on a full ride from getting a job. Really the day they decided Johnny Manziel (from a rich family who could afford good lawyers) would only be “suspended” for part of a game for selling his autograph for thousands while Ohio State players lost their eligibility for getting some free tattoos should have been the end. I wish they’d actually tried to seriously punish Manziel, not cause he deserved it, but because the lawyers his family could afford would have ended this silliness by now.

Paying athletes will mean that a lot of schools will end their inter-collegiate sports programs as they will not be able to afford them. This will mean less opportunity for all athletes.

Yeah, and that would be a shame. /sarcasm

Where does the main source (Talkiing 99%) of NCAA's revenue come from? Hint: It is not from football and just a once a year event.

They use that "one time event" as their cash expenses (Including football) throughout the fiscal year.

During daylight hours I support this decision…

After dark I’m definitely opposed to this Decision…

Guess that ambivalence is due to the fact that I haven’t been interested in college sports since 1951…

Twenty years ago, I went to a Big 12 school on an academic scholarship.

I knew a woman that was raped by a basketball star (I was working in the dorms, and we were witnesses to the player going to her room and loud noises).

Sounds like KU.

From Where Does The Money Go?:

The revenue primarily comes from D-I Basketball Championship television and marketing rights, along with Championship ticket sales.

The Division I College Football Playoff and bowl games are independently operated, and the NCAA does not receive revenue from these events.

Only if they take full advantage of it. But let’s face it, a LOT of football players are just barely smart enough to keep their scholarship when majoring in PE.
