Following the criminal indictment of a fellow officer, the entire Portland Police Rapid Response Team made the unanimous decision to resign, according to police sources via Portland news outlet KXL.

Cory Budworth, 40, is the first officer in the county to be prosecuted for using force during a violent protest.

The Rapid Response Team is a group of volunteer officers who respond to civil disobedience, demonstrations and riots. At the time of the incident, Officer Budworth was assigned to the Rapid Response Team for crowd control.

Indeed, Budworth was indicted for breaking up an Antifa riot in 2020, charged with misdemeanor fourth-degree assault. He was accused of “unlawfully, knowingly and recklessly causing physical injury” to Teri Jacobs on August 18.

The only FBI agents I’d trust right now are Mulder and Scully.

And I’m not too sure about Scully!

> Gonna need confirmation it is actually true that an officer was indicted for breaking up Antifa riot. <

He was indicted for striking a woman with his baton while she was on the ground.

The woman was standing in a road while the police were advancing. So the cop pushed her aside. No problem.
Then the woman fell. Again, no problem.
Then the cop struck the woman while she was down (it was a two-handed baton shove, actually). Then the cop just walked away.

That last shove...maybe a problem.

You misunderstood....

From the original article:

“The Rapid Response Team is a group of volunteer officers who respond to civil disobedience, demonstrations and riots. At the time of the incident, Officer Budworth was assigned to the Rapid Response Team for crowd control.”

They’re cops that volunteered for that duty.

I read yesterday that the baton was a drum baton with pink fluffy ends for show; she was hit with a fluffy baton is all. The cop was in a band.

The Antifa jerks should take this opportunity to burn the city down. No loss.

I think “volunteer” in this context means they have volunteered for riot control duty. So are pulled away from their normal duties when a riot is declared. I’m sure they are being paid for this.

Meanwhile nobody is allowed to mention the name Ashley Babbitt and her killer is exempted from even being named.

I also read this yesterday…
In March, the city settled with Jacobs for $50,000 plus $11,000 in legal fees, court records show.

In other words the “victim” was just given some shut up and go away money.

Darn near every police and sheriffs department are struggling to recruit applicants. I don’t know what they pay and pension package is for Portland cops, but it has to out of this world for any of them to stay.

There were approx 50 members. Most LEO organizations give some special pay, but apparently these guys didn’t get anything. It probably got them a lot of OT, but that’s about it. You’d think more cops would catch on that the city/state will not have your back, even though they are the ones sending you into an impossible situation.
