A missing Idaho dog was found herding a group of sheep two days after he was ejected from a car during a crash, according to a local report.
The incident unfolded around 11:55 a.m., Sunday when Linda Oswald and her family were driving along State Highway 41 with their dog, Tilly, in the back seat, The Spokesman-Review reported. Tilly was ejected from the rear window, which was shattered during the accident, according to the report.
In apparent shock, Tilly bolted across the prairie south of Rathdrum. Oswald and six strangers pulled over when the crash happened immediately and began looking for Tilly.
“People just kept going out,” Oswald reportedly said. “2:30 in the morning some people were out looking for him.” Oswald ended her search Sunday after approximately 10 hours and posted a picture of Tilly on Facebook asking for help to find him, The Spokesman-Review reported.

Yup.
Good dog!
I’ll take an Aussie!
That’s just across the state line from my house. Saw it on local news last night. Terrific story, fabulous dog.
I love this!
I also love this:
“People just kept going out,” Oswald reportedly said. “2:30 in the morning some people were out looking for him.”
My old Tervuren, Ranger, would have done this. He had an insatiable drive to herd like objects, be they nephews, livestock, etc. At the dog park I used to take him to, there were a group of Great Dane owners that met with their dogs every Thursday evening. They hated Ranger because he considered them “like objects,” and instead of the Danes being able to run free as a pack as intended, they were penned in a corner of the park like a herd.
That is really cool! We live just five miles east of where the found the doggie!
>> It’s not just a dog, it’s a Border Collie!
LOL - I knew it was a Border Collie just from the headline.
Good dog!
And not just a Border Collie but a Heeler mix...the herding instinct is super strong in Tilly.
Tilly shook off the accident impact, sniffed the air and went to work...for two days. Sheep don't herd themselves ya know.
I suspect the dog actually caused the crash out of the sheer boredom of being out of work
Creepy...
They ruin everything. Get them penned back up and out of sight like Mao did.
We had two Border Collies on the farm when I was growing up. They were my great uncle’s dogs, he named the first Lassie after the TV dog and the other was Rennie because his colors reminded everyone of Rin Tin Tin. Hey, I never said my great uncle had a vivid imagination.
Anyhoo, those two dogs were great herders.
Horses? No problem.
Cattle? In the bag. This was especially helpful.
Chickens, where ya want’em Pa!
On a slow day they would even herd the multitude of cats on the farm!
Once we were working in the plant bed. Around noon my great uncle took his coat off and hung it on a tree limb. End of the day we were back at the house. About dark my great uncle started wondering where the dogs were.
My dad grabbed a flashlight and went to the fields we had been near looking for them.
He finally found them at the plant bed laying under my great uncle’s coat that he had forgotten.
Faithful dogs those two.
Cool. We need a road trip up to Idaho.
rktman is always welcome in Idaho!!
Border collies are a fantastic breed. They are compulsive workers and highly energetic. They must have space and a purpose in life.
Indeed! Lots of FRiends to to meet in Idaho
