F. Lee Bailey, the no-nonsense criminal defense attorney who helped win an acquittal in the 1995 murder trial of O.J. Simpson as part of the former NFL star’s legal “Dream Team,” died Thursday in Georgia. He was 87.

His cause of death was not immediately revealed.

Superior Court Judge Kenneth J. Fishman, Bailey’s former partner, confirmed the news to The Boston Globe.

Simpson, who was found not guilty in the 1994 murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman, posted condolences to his former lawyer Thursday on Twitter, calling Bailey “a great friend,” and “one of the great lawyers of our time.”

Pirating is a crime, but why does swashbuckling need a defense attorney?

Swashbuckling: engaging in daring and romantic adventures with bravado or flamboyance.

Oh I see, that’s sexual harassment now.

With 9 black jurors out of 12, even a full-color video of OJ slashing the victims’ throats wouldn’t have made a damned bit of difference.

7 of the 9 Black jurors were women, who were more than happy to see the white bitch in the grave.

The biggest mistake was in moving the trial to downtown L.A. That pretty much guaranteed that Simpson would walk.

FLee Bailey, 87, WAS a millionaire.

However, due to a series of financial troubles, he declared bankruptcy in 2018 and lost his fortune....and was worth only a hundred-grand or so at death.

He was married four times during his lifetime......which were probably four of the main sources for most of his financial troubles, LOL.

He helped OJ get away with murder as part of his Dream Team. But then, so did Alan Dershowitz and he’s ironically a Trump supporter.

Everyone is entitled to a vigorous defense. They were just doing their jobs. The blame falls on the judge and jury.

The “Flee” is dead, as Rush used to call him.

“Google sez he was worth 100K???”

Probably cleverly structured his estate to escape the death taxes.

Google sez he was worth 100K???

That's what I call a successful life. Spend it all while you are still alive.

The prosecution team was so idiotically incompetent, along with the media seeking judge’s antics, that his acquittal was pretty much assured.

The prosecution never wanted to win. They knew that if OJ was convicted, that LA would burn.

The Citroen Masserati SM, was IMHO one of the most beautiful cars made. I wanted to buy one back in the day, but they just did not catch on in the USA:

More likely he gave it all to his 4 ex-wives and their kids.

Thank you for mentioning Garcetti. I place him at the top of the lists of those responsible. The trial should have been held in Santa Monica, but the DA there was seeking Garcetti's job and Garcetti would not give him the publicity.

Also add in that Vince Bugliosi offered to assist, pro bono. They turned him down. Like him or hate him, Bugliosi was one of the best criminal prosecutors of his day.

Garcetti was happy to blow the trial rather than have his incompetence be spotlighted. Justice for Nicole or Ron? Who cares? The Garcetti family must be protected.

At least Ron’s dad never rested in going after OJ. Good man.

Bailey was on the Johnny Carson show back in the day. After introducing him, Johnny turned to him and deadpanned, “may I call you F?”

He was Patty Hearst’s defense attorney. Patty Hearst’s father paid him over $1 million, in 1976 dollars, to defend Patty Hearst. She was convicted and got a stiffer sentence than the SLA ring leaders who had public defenders. Patty Hearst wrote in her book that F. Lee Bailey was drunk during the trial.

Kind of like the Supreme Court and Trumps’ election fraud.
