Republicans have dumped Reagan for Trump

The choice between Elise Stefanik and Liz Cheney for a House Republican leadership post serves as a proxy war between Donald Trump and Ronald Reagan for the soul of the Party.

Reagan and Cheney — and Republicans generally — appear certain to be the losers.

For decades after he left office, Ronald Reagan was a glue that united Republicans, just as Franklin D. Roosevelt was for Democrats. Now Trump dominates the Republican Party; Liz Cheney had the audacity to tell the truth: that Trump lost the last election, which many of her House GOP colleagues are too cowardly to acknowledge.

I actually think Trump was even better than Reagan. And I started out as a “never trumper”.

I’ve only voted “for” a candidate twice in my life: 1980 and 2020. Notice I didn’t include 1984 or 2016.

Trump is the ONLY president in my lifetime I liked more AFTER his first four years than before.

No... the GOP rank and file dumped the Bushies for Trump. Trump is far closer to Reagan in terms of policy than 95% of the “leaders” in the GOP.

Always good to get a mudpuddle-deep analysis, just in case none of your neurons woke up today.

Reagan gave us the 1986 Amnesty, which is the cause of most of the problems in this country. Glad to see Trump taking his place.

Reagan and Trump walk arm and arm. George HW Bush has been rejected.

Ditto here. I didn't support Trump until the GOP nomination in 2016, and am since very glad I did. His policy positions are absolutely in line with mine.

Indeed. This entire article is a joke. The headline should have a Barf Alert. Obviously President Trump was far better than Hillary Clinton. But in no way is he any better than Ronald Reagan was.

Stefanik for Cheney is just shuffling the Bush League Republicans in leadership.

They are ALL still Assistant Democrats assisting the Democrats to a permanent majority with open borders and amnesty like they have for the last 30 years.

What a steaming pile. It is between Trump and Bushies. It is between the war mongers/globalists and the US centric America First no open borders. It is between what is best for big globalist companies and what is best for americans and american workers.

Trump is better than Reagan. It’s one thing to fight communism abroad. It’s quite another when it’s in your backyard.
