The treatment of Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., by her fellow House Republican leaders and colleagues "simply for having a contrary opinion" on former President Donald Trump is appalling, and late President Ronald Reagan would never have approved, presidential historian Craig Shirley wrote in a new opinion piece.
"Cheney's only crime of course is her belief that the GOP needs to wash its hands of Donald Trump," Shirley, a biographer for late President Ronald Reagan, wrote for Townhall. "Otherwise, she's a tried and true conservative. And our movement is big enough to accommodate personal opinions.

He’s dead Jim.
What about Eisenhower? Roosevelt? Lincoln? Heck let’s speculate what Washington would have done. Let’s get ouija board and ask them.
Reagan served in a time when there was still some level of bipartisanship, patriotism and respect for the office. Sure, Reagan was attacked and vilified more than any POTUS for a century before him, but even that was nothing compared to the treatment of Trump. What would Reagan have said about the CIA/FBI spying on a presidential candidate? What would Reagan have said about 2 fake impeachments? What would Reagan have said about widespread election fraud? We were used to “The Great Communicator”, who could eviscerate the left with wit and a wry smile on his face. In the past 4 years, I suspect we just might have met “Angry Reagan”.
Got it.
So, tell us how Reagan would feel about a stolen election that put a demented geezer in the White House and at least six Dem senators that shouldn’t be there.
Lizzy would have been one of the most vocal and active in opposing Reagan policies. Reagan faced the same GOP leftist Trump faced.
The globalist/left fears a reinvigorated nationalist Republican Party that represents decent, rational Americans who will not ascent to the loss of their liberties and the transformation of their country into a socialist cog in a world government controlled by the elites and ruthless foreigners.

Absolutely correct.
The Bush League Republicans have controlled the GOP since 1989 specifically to prevent that.
Assistant Democrats
TransRepublicans
Reagan didn’t witness the Neocon takeover of the GOP.
Reagan’s dead. At this point who cares what he would have thought.
Don't they get to express their "personal opinions" as well?
Biographers usually have severely distorted impressions of their subjects. Read them with caution. Reagan would have let Congressional republicans deal with Cheney. As president he would have remained publicly aloof from the fray.
PRESIDENTIAL Historian: I have a OUIJA board and according to this make believe game board, Ronald Reagan is disapproving of the way Liz is getting treated, but 30 minutes from now, it might be different because Ron Reagan is dead...
Bingo. This disqualifies her from any future in the GOP. If she hadn't done this, I could I understand a marriage of convenience with the likes of her. I wouldn't have liked it but I could understand it. Like it or not (and I don't) she represents votes that we will need. But when she voted to impeach Trump over pure BS politics then I am sorry, I want her nowhere near our movement. We can scrounge up the votes without her. It will be difficult but we can do it.
If I were her, I'd become a Democrat. She's damn near one already
SPOT ON. Reagan, upon retirement, was pestered about Gingrich's rise to power and never said a WORD.
Any opinion to add from fro a real historian and biographer of Ronnie?
Given the magnitude of the issue at hand and given the convincing evidence of the crime involved President Reagan would be siding with Trump.
What about the treatment Cheney has been giving to others? She was ousted for what she was doing to others first and the division she was sewing.
