North Carolina House passes Convention of States Resolution!

If you haven't already heard, the North Carolina House voted this week to pass the Convention of States Resolution! The team in the Tar Heel State has been working tirelessly towards this victory, and we wanted to give you an on-the-ground report.

The days leading up to vote on the House floor were chaotic (to say the least). The North Carolina team endured a series of events that would send them on an emotional roller coaster. The vote was scheduled and called off several times, but the volunteers met each obstacle with courage and conviction.

They had invested so much time, effort, money, and energy into a victory--they were ready to see a successful floor vote.

With recent wins in the House Judiciary committee and House Rules Committee, the team was on an emotional high. In fact, the team held an impressive show of force during the House Rules Committee with over 200 volunteers attending and wearing white COS shirts. It had an obvious impact on the legislators.

Very real possibility.

The GOP is a stumbling block, NOT an asset

This is the usual pedantic boilerplate that I post to these threads for those who don't understand the process contained within Article V.

***

THE ARTICLE V AMENDATORY PROCESS

The amendatory process under Article V consists of three steps:

  1. Proposal;
  2. Direction;
  3. Ratification.

Proposal:

There are two ways to propose an amendment to the Constitution.

Article V gives Congress and an amendments convention exactly the same power to propose amendments, except that a convention is limited to proposing amendments specified in the application and there is no such limit on Congress.

Direction:

Once Congress, or an amendments convention, proposes amendments, Congress must decide whether the states will ratify by the:

The state ratifying convention method has only been used once: to ratify the 21st Amendment repealing Prohibition. A similar procedure was used to ratify the Constitution itself.

Ratification:

Depending upon which ratification method is chosen by Congress, either the state legislatures vote up-or-down on the proposed amendment, or the voters elect a state ratifying convention to vote up-or-down. If three fourths of the states vote to ratify, the amendment becomes part of the Constitution.

Forbidden Subjects:

Article V contains two explicitly forbidden subjects and two implicitly forbidden subjects.

Explicitly forbidden:

  1. No amendment may be added to the Constitution concerning the slave trade or direct taxes until 1808. We’re well past that deadline.
  2. No amendment may be added to the Constitution to change the principle of equal representation in the Senate unless every state deprived of that right approves. If California wants five senators, every state must have five senators. To permit violation of this principle, every state would have to ratify the amendment, not just three fourths.

Implicitly forbidden:

  1. The Constitution of 1787 may not be abrogated and replaced with a new document. Article V only authorizes “a convention for proposing amendments to this Constitution;” so the Constitution of 1787 is locked in place.
  2. A convention for proposing amendments is limited to the topics authorized by state applications.

Outstanding! This makes 16. The next state marks the halfway point. When this is one of two states away I predict Congress will offer up some Kabuki Theater resolutions carefully crafted to sound effective but be totally useless. At least the debate will be going full force across the country by then and Americans will have to seriously consider what kind of Government is going to work for them.

This makes 16.

Not yet. The other house of the legislature hasn't passed it yet.

Under Trump COS progress was stalled. People finally believed an adult was in charge to bring things under control. Now that the bad guys have stolen two Branch's and corrupted the third it's going to move forward again . It saddens me to see all the hysterical fools chiming in who fail to realize we have nothing left to lose.

The only thing standing in the way of total tyranny right now is the Filibuster and the continued fate of America depends on the Whim of two RATs who have miraculously resisted.

I very surprised you wrote, “But mysteriously through a secret handshake you’re going to control who gets named the delegates to this convention.”

Legislators will send delegates with detailed commissions. They won’t send anyone with plenary powers.

If you fear a COS will:

Ban conservatives and President Trump from social media.
Rig future federal elections in favor of the rats.
Declare homosexuality, transgenderism, and fag marriage a 14th Amendment right.
Eradicate the internal combustion engine by 2035.
Sell out the US to the Chicoms.
Federalize child care, K-12 and local zoning.
Promote Critical Race Theory throughout the national government, military, public schools and universities.
Equate patriots with domestic terrorists.
Open our borders.
Inflate our currency into worthlessness.
Use FISA warrants to continue spying on President Trump, Rudy Giulliani and any other opponent. Equate Christianity with hate speech.

Then by all means, stand against the states that are strengthening the 2A, passing statutes to combat Obamunism and can truly represent their people in the face of accelerating tyranny.

That's right. I suspect the rats are willing to have McConnell shut down the senate in exchange for passage of HB1. They'll eventually convince Manchin to go along. They'll use Joe Blow's executive orders in the stead of laws. They have to.

The rats know the majority is against them. Only further and legalized electoral theft can keep them in power.

Rely on elections? The public virtue of politicians? Really? That is what the JBS promotes. Were it true, the Framers wouldn't have needed an entire summer to craft their complex and new form of republic.

Political philosophers going back to Polybius, Cato, Machiavelli, Sidney, and Madison figured out long ago that the institutional design of government is paramount to defending liberty.

Keep in mind we reelected the Great President Trump, yet he is not President.

Please. The states will not send reps with plenary power. That is what we have today in Congress.

The states will send delegates, delegates limited by strict commissions.

Thank you. You just proved my point.

Because we were snookered in a corrupt election, we do not have the president we need in Washington today.

In addition every single appointed government official is an obummer puppet.

All because we did not have an honest election.

You can write all of the constitutional amendments and all of the happy face laws you want, they will be worth nothing unless you have the right people in office to enforce them.

Tell me who in Washington today are you counting on to enforce the Constitution and the laws.

And tell me how many BLM thugs and antifa people your enforcers have put in jail.

BS.

Try this, Amendment XVIII: The 17th Amendment is hearby repealed.

The Framers got it right.

Of course you have information that assures us that the 17th will be repealed.

And that our present method of electing senators will put honest men in the senate. Truck loads of counterfeit ballots, votes by illegals billions in PACS designed to circumvent our election laws will give us the senators we need?

You remind me of an old Jerry Colonna- Bob Hope skit:

“Hope, where do you start first, top or bottom, when you build a house?”

“You start at the bottom with the foundation.”

“Tear it down boys, we need to start over”.

Decent, honest men are the foundation and we are lucky to have had them in Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe and all of the rest that designed our government. Imagine what our government would be like if they had been no better than Biden, Pelosi, McConnell and Schumer.

They concern me.

Just look at what REPUBLICAN legislatures did to Trump in November.

Do you REALLY trust these thugs, criminals and cowards with the Bill of Rights??

The commie Rats would highjack the convention while the limp wristed Rhinos and liberal S/C would let them destroy the Constitution.

That assertion is constitutionally ignorant, arithmetically implausible and practically absurd.

Ask me why.

The same elected officials bought and paid for with Federal Dollars are expected to pull the junkie’s needle they have been mainlining for 70 years and go it alone in their own state? I have a feeling once a convention starts the SCOTUS would tell them they can’t quit taking Federal Monies.
