North Carolina House passes Convention of States Resolution!

If you haven't already heard, the North Carolina House voted this week to pass the Convention of States Resolution! The team in the Tar Heel State has been working tirelessly towards this victory, and we wanted to give you an on-the-ground report.

The days leading up to vote on the House floor were chaotic (to say the least). The North Carolina team endured a series of events that would send them on an emotional roller coaster. The vote was scheduled and called off several times, but the volunteers met each obstacle with courage and conviction.

They had invested so much time, effort, money, and energy into a victory--they were ready to see a successful floor vote.

With recent wins in the House Judiciary committee and House Rules Committee, the team was on an emotional high. In fact, the team held an impressive show of force during the House Rules Committee with over 200 volunteers attending and wearing white COS shirts. It had an obvious impact on the legislators.

Inching closer and closer.
In my opinion, a Convention of States is the only way to save the union.

Wrong. The commie Rats would highjack the convention while the limp wristed Rhinos and liberal S/C would let them destroy the Constitution.

Yup. The same way they hijacked the 2020 election. There’s no way we can get ahead of them and predict the evil that will ooze from them. Our minds can’t and don’t “go there”.

We should be very careful what we wish for when it comes to a Convention of the States. Once such a body convenes, EVERYTHING will be on the table without any safeguards - and that includes the Constitution itself. It could end with a completely different form of government.

Agreed, but we must keep George Soros and the Evil Socialists OUT of the process. Period.

Such an event would call on the highest level of statesmanship seen since the writing of the original Constitution, with the same level of conflict.
The foolish notion that only conservative Constitution loving patriots would attend and vote at such a convention is naive at best, stupid at worse.
Marxists would do all possible to dominate the delegation process. What would result is a new Communist Manifesto and another 100 years of armed conflict.

So many misinformed Freepers

Any amendment must be ratified by 38 states

10 or 12 years ago I was enthusiastically on board with the Convention. I even donated money to 2 of my counties designated delegates to attend an organizing event in Michigan or Minnesota I don’t remember which, it doesn’t matter.

Today…not so much! Actually I believe we’re dealing with a modern non-fairytale version of Pandora’s Box. There’s so many issues with society that has led to a lack of history and civic awareness within all segments of society that it is dangerous folly opening the convention now.

We need 20 years of reformation away from where we are today before we could trust the convention to do what’s designed. Right now we cannot trust a single delegate to do the right thing.

The latest example of that is Chauvin juror #52 Brandon Mitchell. In a sane nation this reprobate juror would be punished to the full extent of the law and a mistrial would be declared. However, in this upside down world the reprobate is going to be made to be some type of new American hero and will be celebrated as an icon.

I also firmly believe that only the most simple minded, gullible advocates of the convention don’t realize that opening the convention is the fastest way to destroy the fabric of this Nation and are working feverishly to implement the plan

I am really torn on this one.

If . . .
*You can’t control your senators
*You can’t control your House members
*You can’t control your governors
*You can’t control the courts
*In many cases, you can’t control your state party apparatus . . .

But mysteriously through a secret handshake you’re going to control who gets named the delegates to this convention? I don’t see it.

On the other hand, I agree with Tupelo that it may, soon, be the only shot.

The best way to save this country in my opinion is to let the libs eliminate the constitution in an effort to make something new. We red states would be free to live out lives without liberal federal influence as few of us would ratify any constitution they draw up…..

I really wish that people would understand how a convention of the States works. It DOES NOT, NOT, NOT allow for the rewriting of the Constitution. It allows for the PROPOSAL OF AMENDMENTS that THEN need to be submitted to the States of which 3/4ths must ratify.

“The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress; provided that no amendment which may be made prior to the year one thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any manner affect the first and fourth clauses in the ninth section of the first article; and that no state, without its consent, shall be deprived of its equal suffrage in the Senate.”

For people who should know the Constitution better, it is sad that we seem to know so little.

The Convention of the States idea is beyond stupid.

A gaggle of politicians—with Soros-funded agents— would cook up a new constitution? Anybody think NPR, CNN, Antifa, BLM, Public Worker’s Unions, Harvard or Big tech would stay out of it?

It would end us, officially destroy the constitution we have, already the best that ever was, is, or ever could be conceived.

The problem is that they ignore it.

Wonderful!

So we are going to risk mutilating the Constitution to modify the Constitution in the hope that we might force those who ignore the Constitution as it exists today to follow the Constitution.

That we have such people in office explains why we are in the mess we are in today.

We have no one, not a single one in office today with the wisdom of the men who devised our Constitution.

The way to resolve our problems is to clean up our election process so that we are truly getting what we vote for.

Voter ID for citizens only and no mail in voting except for those certified as unable to get to the voting booth.

NC refused to ratify the U.S. Constitution until the Bill of Rights was added.

“The commie Rats would highjack the convention”

Not if God doesn’t want them to. Then it would be impossible for the commies to hijack the convention.

Don’t forget this inescapable truth.
