Sunday evening was a family birthday celebration for the Reynas. It was the first time they had seen each other in over a year and the cousins were the most excited.
"They were running around the yard and they had Nerf wars," said Adriana Reyna. "They were wrestling and just enjoying family time."
It turned out someone called 911 on the family, stating there were gunshots and people fighting, according to Adriana.
Taide Pineda was one of the responding officers who said he did not see any weapons, just Nerf guns. Once they noticed what was going on, the officers quickly switched gears and made sure to ease any fears.

I wouldn’t waste my time with a physical arrest. There are more important things to do than handcuff and book some buzzkiller Karen (sorry to all the people named Karen, that must suck for y’all right now but it will pass).
Just issue them a ROR ticket and notice to appear and stand tall before the bench and either hold a trial or plead no contest and pay a big fat fine.
911 caller should be arrested for idiocy. We they upset the kids were outside having fun?
That Karen was trying to get those kids shot, they should be thrown under the county jail.

I wonder if I could make any money selling yellow caution signs that say “Children Playing - With Toy Guns” for sane people to put in their yards that have easily triggered snowflake neighbors?
I have never heard "gunshots" from Nerf guns. They go kind of "Plop!" don't they?

Certainly there is no real loud noise and the blasters themselves tend to be brightly colored and do not resemble guns unless you are stretching definition of "look like" so far you could include leaf blowers, hair driers and Dewalt drills.

Right. We have a lot of Upnorth People in this area who are always going ballistic about car engines, woodpeckers, or even actual (legal) shooting nearby ... but Nerf guns go “plop.”

Out here, the sheriff will report a Karen caller/swatter for making a fake 911 call-and they can be arrested, jailed and fined up to several $1000-they will also get-totally free of charge- a complete shaming and shunning by all neighbors-might even get a late night visit from the dad and uncles of those kids for an attitude adjustment-that is what needs to happen to this Karen-a city is a way more dangerous place to be swatting than out here in the country...
