Federal prosecutors, in a departure from usual Justice Department practice, are seeking a court-appointed special master to review the materials the FBI has seized from Rudy Giuliani and his associate, attorney Victoria Toensing, before turning the records over to investigators.
Lawyers from the office of U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss wrote in a (Lawyers) to U.S. District Court Judge Paul Oetken the day after the FBI conducted searches at Giuliani's apartment that the "government considers it appropriate" to review the materials and make "privilege determinations," ( Politico) reported.

The thing is - anybody in the justice department is just as much a political operative as this appointee so I don’t think this makes this more of a political operation anymore than it already is!
Either they’re trying to give the appearance of legitimacy (because they know this is a blatant unconstitutional political witch hunt) or the plan is to use the appointee to pass the info to their mercenary army.
The Government knows the search and seizure are irrevocably extra Constitutional, and are trying to create a media narrative where they are not Stalinist Nazis.
What do these people think will happen when they lose power - if by election they will be tried, if by "non-election means", they will hang.

So; the Feds want to examine the materials before they “allow themselves” to violate att’y client privilege? How special. That’s why they need the “special master”?
Shouldn’t Giuliani now request a special master to determine whether the Feds are violating att’y/client privilege?
If the Feds believe that Rudy violated FARA regs, by lobbying for a foreign country, they should be able to determine that strictly from an examination of his bank records.

Well, we heard last week that the FBI was using FISA to spy on US citizens who came to them to report crimes. A FISA judge signed off on that, basically proving that the FBI can spy on anyone they want and the 'watchdogs' won't say boo about it. Anyone counting on judges to be fair and to follow the law, wake up.
And yet Stalin died peacefully in his home and was given a hero's funeral. Yes the worm turns, but not necessarily in time to dole out karma the evil ones who initially enslave their people.
