US tourist killed in Puerto Rico after alleged drug buy

When I was living in Brazil back around 2013, two young German tourists made the following mistakes 1) visited a favela/shantytown unescorted 2) Took photos of drug deals 3) Ran like hell once spotted. The last one may not have made a difference, although it could be argued that they might have at least been able to talk themselves out of the situation rather than get shot.

Will PR legalize recreational weed soon? Not my thing, but figured since they are starved for revenue.

Yea, when i went to Jamaica i was wondering how hard would it be to get the weed.

My I ask why? My husband and I are looking into a summer vacay for us and our 12 year old daughter. We live in SC and my daughter even said “Please, no Myrtle Beach”, lets go somewhere nice with mountains. We are looking into NC, TN, and even a possible road trip to the parks in Utah.

Not quite but "medicinal" marihuana is legal, and getting a permit is way to easy. So, in effect it's recreational.

I was at a party once when this girl whips out her Polaroid (yes that long ago) and started to take pictures of everyone sitting around a less than legal substance on the table. Live in western Colorado just returned from a trip to St. George, Utah. One of my favorite portions of I-70 (I've driven every mile of it over the years) is Glenwood Canyon in Colorado & I-70 west of Green River to where it merges with I-15 (160 miles). Fairly remote area with 90 mile stretches without any services. The National Parks in southern Utah are spectacular but many of them are overcrowded during the tourist season.

Tariq Loat and a friend, James Jackson, were attacked in La Perla on Saturday following the alleged drug deal when they tried to take photographs, despite being told not to, according to Police Commissioner Antonio López Figueroa.

Probably planning to post the pictures of the drug deal on Facebook to show to all of their friends.

I’ll go out on a limb and say this isn’t as nice as the Mainland US Jail Experience.
Probably still beats the Peruvian Jail Experience where they throw you into a walled ghetto and you’re on your own.
