U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- On the afternoon of 15 April 2021, Carl Mock was attacked by a grizzly bear near Baker’s Hole Campground in Gallatin County, Montana. The campground is a few miles from the town of West Yellowstone, near an entrance to Yellowstone Park. Mock was able to dial 911. Several agencies responded to the call at about 3:42 p.m. The first responders were able to find Mock after about 50 minutes of searching.
Mock had “sustained significant scalp and facial injuries” according to the Gallatin County Sheriff Search and Rescue Facebook page. Localnews8.com gave more details of the injuries:
Authorities say the bear attack left him with severe injuries to the left side of his face, head and neck. Judging from his injuries, they said Mock seems to have used the proper fetal position to keep the bear from killing him, but a the bear still managed to bite out a chunk of his skull.
“I want people to know that Carl wasn’t out there… he wasn’t out there making stupid choices and like chasing after animals. He’s very aware of rules and guidelines,” Cook said.

It was a small tributary, and as they slowly proceeded in the dark, they heard a soft splash. When they turned on a spotlight to see what it was, they saw a tiger dragging a guy up the riverbank by his head. And they realized that instead of five of them in the boat, there were only four of them.
Apparently, there were high banks on both sides of the stream, and the tiger had leaped over the boat, snatched one of the poachers out of the boat by his head in mid-air, and landed on the other side.
The tiger did not even so much as rock the little boat. Until they were out of there, they all stood back to back with guns at the ready.
After watching that video of the woman in China who got out of her car and was nailed by the tiger, I don’t doubt the veracity of that story I heard for a single second. It looked like it grabbed that woman by her lower back with its teeth on each side of her spine and made off with her with seemingly no effort at all.
And of course, THIS predator goes for the balls!

This is what bears do. Forget the warm fuzzy pictures of cuddly bears and the kids’ toys that give the wrong message about bears.

One of the city commissioners in my suburban Seattle town got attacked at his weekend mountain house.
Exactly the same attack method, and a female bear, as I recall.
His scalp and skull injuries were horrific.
He looked like an extra from The Walking Dead for the first year.
I have not seen a photograph since, but I heard he has had multiple surgeries and looks much better.
Tragically, he was the only Conservative business owner on the Commission, and he started marching to the Left almost instantly after the attack.
Honestly, they might be better off with some fish flavored animal crackers

LOL, I never thought of that, but when you compare it to the original AVG Flying Tigers logo, there is a real resemblance!
Back 2007, we were traveling the western states with another couple on Gold Wing motorcycles and pulling small m/c trailers. We were on US191 heading west out of the park to spend the night in West Yellowstone. I had the lead that day, and my buddy was maybe 50’ or so behind me. I saw two big bears cross the road way up ahead of us, from left to right, and go into the brush. Thought nothing of it at first, but radioed back to him what I saw. When we passed them, one of em turned and charged at my buddy’s bike, he swerved to the left and easily missed it with no problem, however, the bear did manage to take a swipe and barely hit the side of his trailer. Needless to say, we picked the speed up and got outta the area.
We got to our motel, checked his trailer out. That’s when we noticed some pretty nasty scratches. He had to have it repainted. There was no “buffing that right out”.
It could have been a whole lot worse. We were fortunate.
It makes me shudder. Accounts are rife with bear bad breath (shudder) slavering, snuffling, growling, and bites and slashes as the victim curls up and tries to pretend it isn’t happening.
On the commission, did HE start going lefty after the attack, or was it the rest of the commission going that way without him as a restraining influence?
Kinda like taking a knife to a gun fight...
