‘Woke’ hiring: Endorsing Trump is top reason for job rejection
Washington Examiner ^ | April 7, 2021 | Paul Bedard

The business world’s discrimination against anything “Trump” has reached an epidemic level, touching former aides to the president, anybody pictured near the Jan. 6 Capitol protest, and now those who endorsed him on social media posts.

A new survey of hiring managers provided to Secrets found that backing Trump on social media is the top reason to reject a job applicant.

The apparent reason: Human resources departments want to avoid “tiffs” between employees.

“Likely to avoid future office tiffs, a significant portion of hiring managers admitted to negatively judging candidates based on the political content posted. For 27% of hiring managers, social media posts endorsing Donald Trump for president would negatively impact their decision to hire a candidate,” read the analysis of the poll done for Skynova, an online business software company.

I would point out that the “diamond” you describe is not a normal condition in the history of human civilization. It’s typically only seen in times after highly disruptive events like the Black Plague or World War II.

Delusional, coddled people like modern Americans don’t like to hear this, but the “pyramid” you describe is the normal human condition.

The thing is, if they don’t find any social media presence, they will assume it’s because you are a conservative.

I know it’s ‘normal’ but it’s far from ideal. We should be advancing instead of going backwards. Revolutions end up happening and nobody wins except the leaders for awhile.

Personally, i wouldn’t want to work for a company that surrounds me with the absolute retards that woke people are. I would end up doing all the work while they sat around and vented about what hurt their feelings all day long.

Do you actually fit in that organization, or do you find that you have little in common with your fellow employees?

What exactly does “advancing” even look like. At this point in my career I’m finding that well-educated professionals are some of the dumbest and least capable people I deal with. You think that’s “progress?” LOL.

I meant in general, towards a more diamond shape. That’s all. Killing the middle class is a bad move. And I blame the education system for well over 50% of the problems with ‘educated idiots’. I know a lot of them.

I also put a lot of blame on the baby boomers and gen x for their ‘participation trophy’ style raising of kids.

Coddled? The youth are facing huge issues caused by your generation’s greed.

Been there.
Done that.
Retired.

“I suspect most Trump supporters outside of many skilled “blue collar” jobs are completely unsuited to work in any organization that is large enough to have an HR department.”

Agree. That’s why we have a family business. I am selective on who we hire and who we do business with for that very reason.

Globalism and off shoring are what is killing the middle class.

This is how they slowly eliminate us. Identify people on the right. Deny them jobs. Watch them die.

Yep, when you say we’re losing to H1Bs and offshoring, I know that’s a fact.

And it sucks, because there’s really not many options now. All the low end is filled with illegals, even teens can barely get jobs in that area. To get a ‘behind the glass door’ style job, you pretty much have to be very well connected or Elon Musk level savvy. The middle is being killed off by what you said.

What “issues” are you talking about?

I live in a country where the average loser getting shot by the police is driving a late model SUV and wearing $300 Nike athletic shoes ... and has never been gainfully employed.

Maybe “the youth” you describe should take some time to learn about what REAL hardship is.

Cities are not real America. They are war zones to be avoided.

It can definitely go the other way. The upper management at my company definitely tilt conservative and are pro-Trump. We stay completely away from politics during work (as everybody should) but there is no fear of losing your job around here over your political beliefs - even if you were a liberal. Our company is all about hiring and retaining good people who contribute. How they vote is their own business.

I think this whole thing is overblown. The idea that HR staff (or even hiring managers) are combing social media profiles of applicants and weeding them out because they supported Trump are in the minority. Besides, who would want to work for a company that did that! They would be doing me a favor by crossing me off the list.

I really hope HR departments push back on this and sanction the 27% of HR people doing this. Roughly half the voters cast their ballot for Trump the last time and thats a pretty good sized chunk of public opinion. I think you can only go on for so long before you lose business or make stupid decisions and get replaced as as a result of deeming too many people to have cooties.

I was kicked off Facebook several years ago. They did me a big favour. They said I could be restored if I would give them copies of some very important documents (drivers license etc. e.g.). I didn't.

I have never posted on Twitter or any of those "social media" sites. Sometimes I felt the urge, but let it pass. I'm glad I did.
