I meant in general, towards a more diamond shape. That’s all. Killing the middle class is a bad move. And I blame the education system for well over 50% of the problems with ‘educated idiots’. I know a lot of them.

I also put a lot of blame on the baby boomers and gen x for their ‘participation trophy’ style raising of kids.

This country did not have a “diamond shape” when it was founded, and didn’t have one for most of its history. The situation you describe was nothing more than an anomaly of the post-WW2 era when we were the only modern country with our infrastructure and industrial capacity intact.

Once the rest of the world caught up to us by the 1970s, two things have happened that tell me your idea of “progress” is neither normal nor realistic:

1. The U.S. has run up a national debt of $30 trillion — with tens of trillions of dollars in future liabilities — propping up this “diamond” scheme.

2. Even though our country has functioned as a “diamond,” our ECONOMY still functions very much like a “pyramid.” What has changed over the years is that the corners of that pyramid that are our slave and peasant classes are now living in places like China and South America.
