Easy. He’ll call it a “tax.”

“A State may not impose a charge for the enjoyment of a right granted by the Federal Constitution.”

So, there goes marriage license fees? So much the state being “in the marriage business.”

Yeah, nah.

Not in today’s modern age, sadly. The plain language of the Constitution is not for you or me to understand, just our elites.

When can I expect my refund check for the fees I’ve paid?

So does everyone who paid a tax for exercising the right not to buy health insurance get a refund now?

Perhaps the $200 NFA Stamp tax is also unconstitutional.

I wonder what this means for the IRS marriage penalty?

Apparently these days, the only way to be a SC justice is if the deep state has video of you diddling “chickens”.

Being a supreme court justice carries the same prestige as being a pulitzer prize winner.

Those probably aren’t going anywhere. Why? Technically, the Constitution does not guarantee a ‘right’ be marriage even though in some decisions, dicta in the majority opinion has referred to marriage as ‘right.’ In reality though, in the cases where the court has weighed in on marriage, like Loving & Windsor, those central legal holdings in those decisions were really based on 5A and 14A considerations. IOW, essentially states have the right to regulate marriage, but they don’t have the right to structure those regulations in a way that discriminates on the basis of religion, race or sexual orientation (anymore).

If marriage were a de jure constitutional right, then even cousins would be allowed to marry or siblings or children & parents. But, they aren’t because it’s not really an enumerated ‘right,’ even though for most practical purposes, it’s a de facto right.

Easy. He’ll call it a “tax.”

You mean like a poll tax needed to vote? Like taxing items purchased so religious ceremonies can be carried out?

Likened to a poll tax, in the article. The word is so over-used, but I’d say the fees could be seen as racist.

> "...a right granted by the Federal Constitution..."

WRONG!

The Federal Constitution DOES NOT GRANT RIGHTS, IT GUARANTEES THE RIGHTS GIVEN TO MAN BY GOD.

Among which is the Natural Right to self-defense and defense of family and property.

WTH???

Wait a minute...I don’t like the phrasing.

The constitution doesn’t grant me any right. My rights come from God, or nature of you prefer. No paper gives me any of my rights. That paper guarantees my rights and restricts government from infringing on my rights.

As a resident of Hellinois, I want my FOID and CCW fees returned to me! These bastards here have been charging us for decades to exercise our GOD GIVEN, CONSTITUTIONALLY GUARANTEED RIGHTS and it needs to end now.
