A shipment of 700,000 doses was expected to arrive in Israel on Sunday but was halted until further notice.
Pfizer has halted shipments of coronavirus vaccines to Israel in outrage over the country failing to transfer payment for the last 2.5 million doses it supplied to the country, The Jerusalem Post has learned.
Senior officials at Pfizer have said they are concerned that the government-in-transition will not pay up and the company does not want to be taken advantage of. They said that they do not understand how such a situation can occur in an organized country.
Army Radio reported that Pfizer called Israel a “banana republic.”
A shipment of 700,000 doses was expected to arrive in Israel on Sunday but was delayed until further notice. Pfizer told the Post that the company has completed all deliveries to Israel under its initial agreement to provide its COVID-19 vaccine, signed in November 2020.
"The company is currently working with the Israeli government to update the agreement, to supply additional vaccines to the country. While this work continues, shipments may be adjusted," the company said in a statement.
The Health Ministry would not comment on the statement.

Seems even the more efficient governments still aren’t THAT efficient or good at their jobs.
Hopefully it’s all sorted out very soon and they can get on with it. They’ve had incredible success so far. It would be great to see them complete the job of inoculating their population so they can get back to normal.
Smart move by Pfizer. There are LOTS of other ready markets ready to actually pay.

Almost certainly those doses were a mix of private/public. One assumes the private purchasors are gonna quietly flip their yamulkes on the government.
Per the article the payment for the received contract has been approved just hasn't been cut yet. Am I shocked by an incidence of government sloppiness, no. I suspect the issue is the negotiation of the forthcoming purchases. It's been acknowledged that Israel paid a significant premium to what's charged other countries for the Pfizer vaccine. I wouldn't be surprised if that's an issue of contention in ongoing negotiations.
It’s just machinations from the global left (that run Pfizer and almost every other large company) to hurt the right in Israel, with help from the Deep State that controls the Israeli bureaucracy (which is holding payment).
