BREAKING: White House Releases Initial Gun Control Executive Actions
Townhall.com ^ | 7 April A.D. 2021 | Katie Pavlich

The Biden White House has released a preview of President Joe Biden's executive actions on gun control, which he plans to sign Thursday afternoon. The administration is also arguing additional gun control is needed to fight a "public health" crisis and pushing hard for "red flag laws," which often violate civil liberties.

"Today, the Biden-Harris Administration is announcing six initial actions to address the gun violence public health epidemic," the White House released late Wednesday. "This Administration will not wait for Congress to act to take its own steps."

Here are the six actions, from the White House "fact sheet."

The Justice Department, within 30 days, will issue a proposed rule to help stop the proliferation of “ghost guns.”

The Justice Department, within 60 days, will issue a proposed rule to make clear when a device marketed as a stabilizing brace effectively turns a pistol into a short-barreled rifle subject to the requirements of the National Firearms Act.

The Justice Department, within 60 days, will publish model “red flag” legislation for states.

The Administration is investing in evidence-based community violence interventions.

The Justice Department will issue an annual report on firearms trafficking.

The President will nominate David Chipman to serve as Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.

Biden's choice for ATF Director, David Chipman, is a longtime gun control activist who has done extensive lobbying for anti-Second Amendment groups funded by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the Giffords Law Center. He was also involved in the Branch Davidian trial after the government -- specifically ATF and FBI -- botched a raid in Waco, Texas. Bad decisions made by federal agents ultimately resulted in the deaths of 76 people, including pregnant women and dozens of children.

I ponder daily how it is that my owning, or not owning, a gun or guns, causes people to shoot each other while I am at home minding my own business.... Makes zero sense.
But then again these are liberals....

Amen!!! There is more gun violence in Chicago on one Saturday night than in my little town in a thousand years...

What’s the population of your little town?

No more ghost guns. If you, like myself, have been wanting to finish an 80% receiver, you'll be affected directly, along with thousands of other law abiding citizens. Of course, this does nothing to stop mass shootings or gun violence. When was the last time a "ghost gun" was used in a mass shooting? They haven't been. Instead, this rule will ONLY affect law abiding citizens who are hobbyists and like the DIY approach.

I’d say that ghost cars may have hurt people; especially those who bought the parts and then, even with the help of a nagging spouse, never finished assembly, leaving parts all over the garage.

The Justice Department will issue an annual report on firearms trafficking.

Will this be back-dated to Obama’s running guns into Mexico?

"The practice of eo’s as law is a fundamental problem you need to be against per separation of powers."

That is why I can't understand HidenBiden's E.O. that shut down construction of the Wall. It was duly passed in Congress and signed into law in 2006? Pres. Trump finally got Congress to appropriate funds for that law and signed that appropriation law.

Under what reasoning could Biteme counter said laws with a "stroke of his pen?" Where are all the lawsuits from the Repubs and Judicial Watch and other NGO's?

"And there's any Court in this land that will uphold the rule of law?"

In case you missed it, the USSC in a 9-0 decision just upheld an individual's case regarding search and seizure without a warrant. The lower DC District court said it was okay, as they tend to do.

This is a huge win for the 2nd and 4th Amendments! I was surprised at the unanimous decision. This will be almost impossible too overturn.

"Time for gun sanctuary counties."

That's already in play. Numerous States are passing laws to that effect, and many Sheriffs are on record saying they won't enforce anti-2nd Amendment Fedgov laws. Some have even said they would arrest any Fegov agency personnel that come to their counties to enforce the above.

Some very good stuff is happening around the country regarding our right to defend ourselves. I'm encouraged.

Plus the recent unanimous USSC ruling against illegal search and seizure of guns without a warrant is a HUGE win. Things are looking up regarding this issue. The 2nd and 4th Amendments are still standing, with few exceptions like LEO in pursuit of a criminal. I'm good with that.

As for Biteme's studies, they are gobblygook for his radical left. They will take months/years and amount to nothing other than proposals.

Between Heller (personal right of ownership) and this recent 9-0 ruling, we're solid.

I agree with your take on this issue. While there are thousands of combat Veterans, seems they prefer to hangout at their local VFW/AMVET/American Legion posts. Many have PTSD or major injuries that would preclude them from action.

I joined the local American Legion post and watched as they just shot the shit about their own lawns, cars, and whatever. They had no interest in America's slide into socialism/communism. First and last time I attended.

As for the keyboard commandos and their talk of CWII, pfft.

"Imagine a ring of patriots around a statue. Imagine anti-coup protests all over the country. You just have to make a display of force."

I think that to be a great idea as long as it occurs in a Constitution Carry or Open Carry states. Concealed Carry would have no intimidation factor, but could be a back up.

Do you know of any organization that are considering your suggestion? A large gathering of armed Patriots to protect our heritage would have a huge affect on those sitting on the sidelines.

Of course, the MSM would paint them in a bad light. However, the BLM,Antifa, anarchists types would probably have second thoughts where it is legal to carry. Those commies need a show of force like you suggest. Still, whoever organizes such would need to have strict rules about firing live rounds.

"States can legislate and nullify them."

Many States are doing so.

Long time member but I rarely post but I do have something to add.
I have a group of former colleagues who are conservative psychologists and psychiatrists (yes there a a few) and this is what we are very concerned about.

Under the guise of “keeping people with mental illness away from guns”, the government is potentially moving to claims mining in collaboration/mandates that all insurance companies, claims adjudication companies and so on allow access to their mental health claims.

So, let’s say you had some job stress and went to a therapist for a few sessions to hash things out. Therapist drops a claim, likely with a pretty generic diagnosis such as “generalized anxiety disorder”.

Or your teen was being a pill, so you had a few sessions of family therapy. Family therapy is what we call a “V code” which means “loosely” there was no actually diagnosis more like some family issues, couple issues etc.

Well, most employer health plans don’t pay for V codes so many unethical therapists will use a diagnostic code that will be paid.

What’s my point? If the claims mining begins a huge number of people suddenly will be considered mentally ill.

You all are smart and see where I’m going with this.

Maybe this isn’t in the pipeline but it’s a huge concern.
