The Biden White House has released a preview of President Joe Biden's executive actions on gun control, which he plans to sign Thursday afternoon. The administration is also arguing additional gun control is needed to fight a "public health" crisis and pushing hard for "red flag laws," which often violate civil liberties.
"Today, the Biden-Harris Administration is announcing six initial actions to address the gun violence public health epidemic," the White House released late Wednesday. "This Administration will not wait for Congress to act to take its own steps."
Here are the six actions, from the White House "fact sheet."
The Justice Department, within 30 days, will issue a proposed rule to help stop the proliferation of “ghost guns.”
The Justice Department, within 60 days, will issue a proposed rule to make clear when a device marketed as a stabilizing brace effectively turns a pistol into a short-barreled rifle subject to the requirements of the National Firearms Act.
The Justice Department, within 60 days, will publish model “red flag” legislation for states.
The Administration is investing in evidence-based community violence interventions.
The Justice Department will issue an annual report on firearms trafficking.
The President will nominate David Chipman to serve as Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
Biden's choice for ATF Director, David Chipman, is a longtime gun control activist who has done extensive lobbying for anti-Second Amendment groups funded by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the Giffords Law Center. He was also involved in the Branch Davidian trial after the government -- specifically ATF and FBI -- botched a raid in Waco, Texas. Bad decisions made by federal agents ultimately resulted in the deaths of 76 people, including pregnant women and dozens of children.
Almost no one (Hunter Biden) gets jammed up for false statements on the FFL form. And how any known defectives "pass the background checks"?
Or, incidents of gun violence by county or city with reference to party responsible.
We already know what kind of cities (demRat) most violence committed with firearms (not "gun violence") are. And we know who a large percentage of the perps are.
No one in DC or the media wants to have an honest discussion about any of this.
Morons Obey
And everything listed has NOTHING to do with stopping crime, and EVERYTHING to do with disarming the People.
Whadda clown show this outfit is.
I share your feelings, FRiend.
At most, some people will fight back when they are personally being dragged off to the gulag. But that’s far too late to actually change anything.
And what really sucks is that if you fight back early enough you don’t have to actually do some of the unmentionable things. You just have to be willing to be aggressive. Imagine a ring of patriots around a statue. Imagine anti-coup protests all over the country. You just have to make a display of force. But the Right wasn’t willing to even do that. And now there are few options left.
Executive orders are mostly illegal, whoever the president is that is issuing them.
So you say we are cowards. Then tell me, after all you listed, with your hind sight, where should I have pointed my rifle that would have made a difference?
And you're just conceding the ground now?
“The Administration is investing in evidence-based community violence interventions.”
WTF exactly is that?
Every step in the wrong direction, is the start of a journey
in the wrong direction.
We have very hard time rolling back bad rulings.
Once they are done, good luck.
Yup. Window dressing, except for reversing the "pistol brace" definition decision.
It's been reported that the cartels are manufacturing their own guns now. Given that they have also deployed autonomous submarines, that seems very plausible. So banning 80& lowers in the States will have zero effect on crime guns.
The 3D printing cat was out of the bag several years ago. No chance of changing that by Executive Order or legislation. It'll just go underground, like bathtub gin during Prohibition. THAT worked out well, didn't it?
Everyone of those items should be considered a big deal. EO’s are not meant to be laws, and there are already too many laws infringing on what is an innate right...the right to be able to protect oneself, their family, and their liberty; with whatever tool or device they feel is necessary.
Incrementalism is rarely a good thing.
They’ll be ignored. And when the feds start Wacoing people, the Un-Civil War begins.
I guess I’m not too worried right now that EO’s are constitutional regarding the 2nd Amendment.
I’m surprised the administration didn’t allow for firearm companies to be liable for firearm misuse.
Red Flag == Confiscation...
You piss me off.. I call in and complain... You get a 3A.M. SWAT visit...
In fact, you piss anyone off:
in person,
on the telephone,
on FR,
on Fakebook,
on twits,
in church,
in the super market,
in the parking lot,
any BLM relative,
the mailman,
the hooker on the corner,
get a traffic ticket,
fly an American flag,
argue with your mind-numbed & conditioned kids,
your kid's teacher(s), or
the wife,
the Red Flag will be thrown and SWAT will schedule you for an adjustment...
Let me guess
BAN “assault rifles”!
Now what did the rifle ever do to anybody?
I’ve never in my entire life ! ever seen a rifle assault anybody
They can take their E/Os and shove it, as far as I'm concerned. It's not right.
What's needed is some moral upbringing. Heck our generation brought guns to school in their pickups all the time - no one was worried, and no one was shot. It's the people - not the guns.
And the people who would do the crazy stuff aren't deterred by Executive Orders or any other legalistic crap.
So basically not doing anything. 🙄
“Typical political meaningless word salad. investing what?, evidence of what?, what community?, all violence or just shootings?, intervention as in Waco or Ruby Ridge?
Mindless blather.”
If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.
‘The Administration is investing in evidence-based community violence interventions.’
This is a complete lie.
