Alabama Governor Kay Ivey
-----------------------------------------------------------------
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WBMA) — Alabama Governor Kay Ivey announced Wednesday she would rescind the statewide mask order -- which has been in place since July 2020 -- and transition her COVID-19 health orders to recommendations citing improving COVID-19 data across Alabama.
The announcement means there will be no statewide enforcement of COVID-19 protocols for the first time since the state's response to the pandemic began in the spring of 2020.
Ivey's 'Safer Apart' order makes a list of recommendations for businesses, schools and organizations on how to operate safely during the pandemic but now stops short of enforcement. The decision leaves Alabamians to govern themselves highlighting Ivey's calls throughout the pandemic for personal responsibility.
Local governments have been more cautious. Birmingham, Montgomery and Gadsden passed city-wide mask ordinances to replace the expiring statewide health order.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
Reminds me of a Dire Straits lyric, now that's the way you do it
Poison Ivey could get on the mask and spread.
“Gas Tax Granny”. I do declayuh! *hick*
As if “Sayfuh at Howum” wasn’t a “disaystuh”. 🙄
I’ve been counting the days. Sweet Home Alabama!
She is awful. A Rino escapee from the old folks home.
And Mohave County, Arizona has been wide open since the beginning of last summer.
Pinging the state list. It says “developing.” Shoot, fire! No, it isn’t. We’ve known that face diaper dictate ends Friday. Auburn U. says they’ll continue to the end of the semester.
OMG, that’s exactly how I talk. 🙄
In another terrifying and life-threatening move, Alabama has decided to join Neanderthals from Texas and Florida in the SuperSpreader bi-annual competition!
But most businesses are going to continue as if the order is still in place...
“Gas Tax Granny”.
I will vote against every state legislator that voted for the gas tax in the primaries. I don’t vote for republicans to have my taxes raised. Unfortunately, most people have short memories.
I fear that is what we will see as well.
Oh, I love the accent! My relatives and teachers spoke with the more “genteel” dialect when I was growing up. In fact...my grandmother went to “finishing school” and took elocution lessons.
I just rib about Kay. Apparently, she’s not playing with a full deck....and insulted my town and leaders at a gala she attended.
She also tried to push toll roads on us. People went ballistic.
The solid South is rising again!
“As if “Sayfuh at Howum” wasn’t a “disaystuh”. 🙄”
You nailed it. Howell Heflin in drag.
