The Georgia state House passed an amendment Wednesday that would strip Delta Air Lines of a multimillion-dollar tax break after the company blasted the state’s new election laws.
Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed into law last week a bill overhauling his state’s election procedures designed to increase security and address issues that surrounded the 2020 election. Delta initially supported key measures of the legislation after it was signed, then backtracked days later amid calls for boycotts pushed by left-wing publications.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian said the new election law “does not match Delta’s values.” Republicans in the state House, angered by Bastian’s sudden flip on the election overhaul, hit back at the company by voting to strip it of a jet fuel tax break worth over $35 million a year, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

If only FR had some way to find them...
Sorry, doesn’t read that way (”Ah yes. The old “it will be best for the people if I get to remain in power” argument. Been used to justify all kinds of stuff.”) - it reads that you believe this legislation will result in voter suppression. The legislation has NOTHING TO DO with giving one side or the other an advantage. There is NO SUPPRESSION due to this legislation.
Again, we’re now starting to better understand where you’re coming from.

yes, this poster’s history shows who they are.
More ball-less posturing by the GOP.
“yes, this poster’s history shows who they are.”
Thanks, I’m done with him, he’s answering to others here.
“I’m aware that a large part of our politics today has nothing to do with governing, only hurting the other tribe, but this is pretty brazen.”
Yes, it is brazen, but Delta was being brazenly partisan too.
Delta is not a person. It is a corporation with a huge influence and the ability to pressure and bully. Delta was effectively engaging in a political campaign and being paid to do so be the people it was campaigning against.
I am tired of corporate virtue signaling. It is dangerous and at best disingenuous. The only way to get them to stop is to hit them where the share holders will notice and make them change their culture.
Happy news! I think corporations look to the path of least resistance. It’s easier to appease the mob than stand up to the mob, but maybe the tide is turning.
Delta is actually a good airline. I think the service is better than United. However, I will never give this cowardly CEO my business again. Hopefully, the CEO will be replaced.
What the heck has gotten into Kemp lately? They killed his daughter’s boyfriend so he tosses the election, but now he’s actually putting up a bit of a fight? Did he grow a pair all of the sudden? Pissed off at the daughter now? What gives?
And, if they did that, it is NOT an exercise of “free speech”. It is intimidation and coersion, and deserving of a strong pushback!
Woot!
“It might be cutting off the oxygen to your brain. hanamizu wrote: Again I ask, does Delta require me to show photo ID to board its planes? If so, does that also “not match Delta’s values?”
The President of Delta stated that a law that pretty much requires photo ID to vote does not match Delta Airline’s values, yet Delta Airlines regulations that require photo ID to fly with them. I made no comment about the GA House’s actions in regards to his statements.
Show the forum the word 'corporation' in the 1st Amd. I can't find it. TIA.
You are correct, Delta is extreme left...benefits for Trans, same sex, gay marriage, etc....they have even adopted green energy! How does an airline buy into a green agenda that is out to kill them and their product? I have seen the memos to employees- they even sanctioned BLM pins to be worn! Delta is no longer a transport industry, but a political instrument of the left.
Judgement comes to mind.
...that passengers have valid identification is unacceptable? Is Delta allowing passengers on their planes without a valid ID?
...that Air Traffic Controllers have valid identification is unacceptable?
...that their Airframe and Powerplant mechanics have valid identification is unacceptable?
...that safety inspectors working for Delta have valid identification is unacceptable?
...that the armed Air Marshals on Delta flights have valid identification is unacceptable?
How about votes within the pilots union? Do the pilots need to be pilots and have an ID in order to vote in the union?
How about Delta's Board? Do they have to be valid members of the Board to vote on decisions affecting the stockholders or can they be any illegal or fake person voting?
How about the rest of Delta's employees? Are they hiring individuals without valid IDs? Can I claim a paycheck from Delta without an ID?
The CEO of Delta is nothing but a HYPOCRITE. Is he putting one thing in Delta's financial reports when something else is the truth?
Do it.
Delta - Doesn’t Ever Leave The Airport
Because they have oversold the seating capacity and are trying to get by on the cheap with the passengers ready to go in the plane with one or two more passengers than available seats.
Use the $35 million to have everyone get a photo ID and buy lots of purple ink.
A) Delta works with the communist Chinese. They have no issue with mass murder.
B) More then likely they are flying in illegals as airlines have been reported to be doing so with no ID and of course no masks and vaccination papers. Full of other diseases we here in the USA have gotten rid of.
Hate to agree, but I do. Dumb, but well within their right.

..........if your family is on hard times (like Delta) even though I’ve been delivering you a box of groceries every week (Delta’s 35 million) only to have you strongly criticize me in the local Letter’s to the Editor column should I keep feeding your family???
Georgia taxpayers, through their elected representatives, just said “Hell No”. And, I imagine most Freepers agree with that.
Hey semi, do you like Steely Dan? Because you love makin’ the Pretzel Logic, you love being the pretzel maker. Probably do it for a living. semimojo the pretzel maker. I like how you engage people to express themselves, just to deconstruct your Pretzel Logic.
