NightShine Solar Panels “Game-Changers” In Fight Against Climate Change!
Watt's Up With That ^ | 4/1/2121 | J I Thacker

A new prototype solar panel from the Technical Institute of Copenhagen (TIC) promises to be a game changer for renewable energy prospects....Traditional solar panels work by intercepting photons. Naturally the Earth is opaque to photons, so at night the panels are useless. But the Sun emits another kind of particle that shines right through the Earth, even at night: solar neutrinos....neutrinos pass through the Earth, they do change on their way through – a bit like the way white light is changed into a rainbow as it passes through a triangular prism.”

Keying in on this relationship, Pierrot was able to theorise a molecular structure that would be partly opaque to neutrinos, based on the precise orientation and atomic spacing of the lattice. A materials scientist at Bologna University produced a prototype to that specification that, according to Pierrot, “caught 10% of solar neutrinos"

Climate change is a still a hoax either way - but I’ll take cheaper energy any day.

I call b.s.

Mee too. Neutrinos can pass through light years of matter without a matter interaction.

Also, neutrinos change 'flavor' as they pass through space. A change so different, 2/3rd's of them couldn't be detected with the first detectors, leading so the 'Solar Neutrino Problem' which led scientists to believe the Sun's inner fusion processes had stopped.

Again, I call BS.

How does this work again? Cold Fusion maybe. Sure... sure. Talk to me tomorrow about this, and “I will give you your opinion”, said the climate charlatan.

Tens of billions pass through every square centimeter of you every second. Yet with all of those, a huge neutrino detector may "see" around a hundred in a day. But suddenly we get 10% absorption? They should be great at powering my spaghetti orchard.

Funny that the author also included mention of "Bologna University".

(Yes, there's a University of Bologna in Italy, but it was a clever play on words that added to the joke.)

Its an April fools article.

The only problem for the team was finding a material that would intercept a particle that is extremely reluctant to interact with any ordinary matter. “Neutrinos only interact via the weak force,” Pierrot explains, demonstrating a salt-shaker dodging around a pepper mill. “That means you have to bring the neutrino extremely close to another particle before they notice each other. But what not a lot of people know is that although neutrinos pass through the Earth, they do change on their way through – a bit like the way white light is changed into a rainbow as it passes through a triangular prism.” Keying in on this relationship, Pierrot was able to theorise a molecular structure that would be partly opaque to neutrinos, based on the precise orientation and atomic spacing of the lattice. A materials scientist at Bologna University produced a prototype to that specification that, according to Pierrot, “caught 10% of solar neutrinos in at least one of the three flavours.” He laughs. “Personally I like vanilla!”

The NightShine solar panel is still in its testing phase at the moment. The magical material may still be a trade secret, but we know it is expensive, and the panel’s lifetime is uncertain. But Pierrot is confident he’s onto a winner. “If we can catch 10% now, in ten years we’ll be able to catch 30%. This technology has the potential to be a game-changer in the fight against climate heating. By the way, are you single? You have the most incredible blue eyes!”

Pierrot’s work was funded by, among others, the European Union Onion Growers’ Union (EUOGU).

As you should. Neutrinos are famous for passing through everything, untouched.

Tachyon would be a better choice.

And how many more acres will these panels take than the ‘regular’ ones that need 43.5 acres to produce 1 (one) Megawatt of electricity? Just pave over the entire surface of the USA to make only a small percent of coal, gas, and nuclear power generation.

Your Einstein meme is fantastic and funny! Unhappily, every time I get out my string theory it gets all tangled up; usually the cat gets a hold of it... well, you know... I end up with dozens of cats!

I seriously doubt they can catch 10%. Neutrino detectors a mile underground catch less than a millionth of a percent.

I missed that. Too funny!

What will be interesting is how many wokesters and and ‘news’ sites will run with it as a true story.
