Two members of Congress are asking the Navy to pull three books promoting identity politics and wokeness from its official reading list.
The books teach young sailors that they’re being asked to fight and possibly die for “a systemically racist country,” the lawmakers say.
The books—“How to Be an Antiracist” by Ibram X. Kendi; “The New Jim Crow” by Michelle Alexander; and “Sexual Minorities and Politics” by Jason Pierceson—are listed as part of the Chief of Naval Operations Professional Reading Program.
All Navy personnel pledge to defend the Constitution, yet these books portray America as fundamentally bigoted, Reps. Doug Lamborn, R-Colo., and Vicky Hartzler, R-Mo., write to Adm. Michael M. Gilday, who is chief of naval operations.
In the letter, dated March 11, Lamborn and Hartzler, both members of the House Armed Services Committee, write:

Well, first, NOT my Navy. Second, Adm Gilday needs to be removed from his position since he's obviously unfit to lead. A REAL leader would have included some malcolm X, calypso louie with a side of robin d'angelo tossed in for good measure. Hoping these are suggestions and not mandatory materials. The political military that has evolved recently is NOT a good thing. In the past, yeah there were a lot of politics but not the blatant almost anti American crap we see today. Well, at least anti American in a lot of eyes.

Up or OUT. Knew an E-3 who had been that rank for quite a few years and was happy as a clam doing what he did. And he did it well. He simply didn’t feel a need to advance. So, out he went.

Because young people need guidance on how to become educated as effective leaders.
There have always been reading lists. In part, they show the ideological foundations of the institution.
Here is the Navy Reading List for 2019.
It is about 145 books.
I have read some of them. I need to read more.
Somewhere there is a resource which shows reading lists over time.
The changes would be worth looking at.

They have a reading list. All we had was the Bluejackets Manual.
More commie indoc crap. The people behind this reading list need to be keelhauled.

COMMANDANT’S PROFESSIONAL READING LIST
Don't see any nonsense, yet. The book about learning from the All Blacks is about a New Zealand rugby team. They'd never get away with that name in the US.

Maybe The Communist Manifesto and Das Kapital should be on the list.
Maybe DOD should give Spenser Rapone his commission, promote him to general and make him head zampolit.
Do I really need a bleedin sarcasm tag?

Hoping these are suggestions and not mandatory materials. Probably not officially mandatory, but I'd guess in the officer ranks if you want to be promoted you'd better read them and be prepared to spew forth what an awful country America is.

Great Lakes Aug-Oct ‘67. Shipped out just before the first snow flew in. Of course going to Newport RI wasn’t much improvement but at least no drills outside. LOL!

The “Mountain Men” of the revolutionary era had the western expanse and the Rocky mountains to get lost in and far away from the idiocy of society. We cant run any more and the wrong is as wrong as ever.

there should be NO official reading list for the military or any one else other than elementary school. That is an insult to any American who loves freedom.

Alfred T. Mahan's The Influence of Sea Power Upon History 1660-1783 (Boston: Little, Brown, 1890) was listed as part of the Canon in hte 2019 list but did not make the 2021 list, which has no Canon. That book should be an essential component of any reading list for US Navy personnel.

Not a big fan, I never knew the white part of the logo was
