North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has been giving President Biden the cold shoulder — a sharp contrast to his relationship with his predecessor Donald Trump.
A Biden administration official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Reuters the White House reached out to Kim “through several channels starting in mid-February, including in New York.”
“To date, we have not received any response from Pyongyang,” the official added.
Secretary of Defense and Secretary of State Antony Blinken are expected to meet with officials in Japan and South Korea next week, despite the White House’s failed efforts to reach Kim.
Those meetings will most likely highlight concerns about North Korea’s nuclear weapons program, Reuters reported.
Trump and Kim enjoyed a bromance of sorts during the former president’s administration, though Kim was ultimately not convinced to give up his ballistic missiles.
The former president previously claimed that Kim wrote him “beautiful letters” and that they “fell in love;” Trump also reportedly offered Kim a ride on Air Force One after their summit in Vietnam.
Still, Trump and Kim too had their falling outs. At their worst, Trump threatened to rain “fire and fury” down on Kim and taunted him with his “bigger & more powerful” nuclear button — and the North Korean dictator called Trump a deranged “dotard.”

I always thought he just wanted a sweetheart deal like Obama/Biden gave Iran. Maybe he’s just holding out until Biden sweetens the pot.

Kim Jong Un knows a rigged election when he sees one. He probably doesn’t want to lend legitimacy to an fraudulently installed regime by meeting with Biden.
That is true.
We tend to focus on the obvious things he’s doing...but there are intangible things that President Trump did that now have been lost.

Wonder if Trump and Kim are still in touch? Wouldn’t be a bit surprised if they were.

Kim Jong Un was properly cowed by the presence of President Trump, and was prepared to kiss Trump’s pinky ring, in the best Mafioso tradition. But Trump does not demand fealty, he commanded a healthy fear and trembling respect among the foreign tyrants.
Now, like a piece of fecal matter in the septic tank, Kim has bobbed up to the surface again.
Since gropey joe is weak and incoherent, foreign leaders will try to take advantage of that. His live-in home health aids (White House staff) will decide what to do for him, and he will sign the order. Putin, Xi, Un and others are very happy there’s a bumbling doddering old fool in the White House.
His lady-in-waiting will be infinitely worse. She will be way out of her league as president. She will have no idea how to act in a crisis, and will try to act tough and will overreact and do something totally out of proportion.
Remember, North Korea ONLY survives because of China. The chinkers keep the them on starvation level sustenance, but make no mistake about it—the Norcoms are the kidnapped child that is being tortured in a dungeon run by China.
The Norcoms have absolutely no reason to engage with Biden because Biden is also owned by China.
Not necessarily goodwill - but “respect.”
Things will return to “normal” in many of these places in the world - chaos - that had been achieving uncharacteristic stability under Trump.
Donald Trump canceled Kim Jong Un.
Joe Biden canceled Dr. Seuss.
