They willl drop nukes on us also. Neither wants this and both are rational.
There are people on this forum who think nuking China is a great idea, and when told they will be nuked in return say, “Can’t get to the Pearly Gates soon enough.”
Meaning rational people in a normal scenario but actually amid the many failures of safeguards there has been at least 3 instances in which we could had a nuke hot war, but for the grace of God.

I think China is rational. I’m not so sure about us. From the outside, does the election of Biden, Trump’s treatment, etc. all look rational to any other head of state?

As a cold war vet and hot war vet (Vietnam), it really is not a matter of we old guys training the newbees, it is rather DO WE HAVE ENOUGH real men and women, who will step into the breach and defend the Republic. We have a few thousand today. But, the Red Chinese, Soviets, Iranians, etc. have millions. We do not have millions. Has our nukes stayed up with all theirs. Read some time back about a new Soviet nuke that is suppose to be larger than anything we have. Our Boomer subs will be huge. Can they get off enough missiles headed to Red China and Moscow to do real damage to them, hurt them badly. But, the first signs of them putting their forces together for an invasion force, we should warn them that we won’t sit by and let it sail, because it is a danger to us here in America. The Soviets have Boomers also. The Chinese have been building theirs. America will be hit by massive nukes when the time comes. The Holy Scriptures’ CLEARLY tell us that BILLIONS will die in the first 3 and 1/2 years of the coming Tribulation. Only nukes can kill that many that fast. That time is rapidly coming upon us. Everything the Bible speaks of in these End Times are coming into view now. CLEARLY INTO VIEW. Pay attention. If you don’t know the GOD of Heaven and Earth, time is running out to do so. IF YOU DIE without knowing Him, you die lost. NO PURGATORY!!! No such thing!!! The Bible makes that CLEAR. So, you must be saved BEFORE you die or else!!

If China is smarter about it, they’ll keep Taiwan as their perpetual enemy (”we’ve always been at war with Eastasia”) to divert their peoples’ attention from focusing on issues in their own country. It’s a psychological diversionary tactic of the ruling elite.
Consider Ancient Rome. Early on, the Roman Republic had Carthage as their perpetual enemy. Once Rome destroyed Carthage, it was shortly thereafter civil war broke out in Rome and the Republic fell, ushering in the imperial dictatorship.

China is actually very rational, and won’t risk a shooting war with America unless they have no other option. They will take as much territory as they can without engaging America in a war, as long as America follows the path of appeasement. Hong Kong is equivalent to the Nazis occupying the Austria. Taiwan would be equivalent to the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia.
I think the Chinese are confident that America would stand aside if they invade Taiwan, and that a preemptive attack on the US Navy is not necessary. Biden is owned by the ChiComs and will just send a sternly worded letter to the UN. America would not be forced into war unless China made a play for Korea. China could create a de facto Soviet Bloc by rolling though Southeast Asia and installing puppet governments in Burma, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, without any international intervention.

The one great weakness in China’s society is by design it is top-down command and control driven. The populace is trained from birth to obey higher-ups. As a result, there is a distinct reluctance for individuals to make any decisions on their own. Decapitate the leadership and you shut them down. No need for mass annihilation of people.
It also mentions something about relying on horses and/or chariots.
