Since 1980 Americans have heard that the Earth was warming rapidly, that the South would not have winters anymore and we would see “the end of snow.”
We were told it is the “scientific consensus” and the science was “settled.” So why the heck would politicians prepare for something when they were told by "experts" that it would never happen?

Clearly the UN, Al Gore, John Kerry, Bill Gates and all the others that push this garbage on the public, without scientific data to support it, are to blame, not the Texas politicians.
John Kerry, who flies on private jets, is out there saying there are only 9 years left to solve the problem. If we had honest reporters, instead of people pushing an agenda, they would tell him that the UN said in 1989 that we only had ten years left to solve the problem. As far as I can tell we are still having snow, the temperature is nearly the same, the coastal cities are still here, the icecaps are still here, and Manhattan and Miami are still not flooded.
Fifty years of made-up dire predictions that have been wrong and yet we are told the science is settled?
Let's Review 50 Years Of Dire Climate Forecasts And What Actually Happened
- 1967 Salt Lake Tribune: Dire Famine Forecast by 1975, Already Too Late
- 1969 NYT: "Unless we are extremely lucky, everyone will disappear in a cloud of blue steam in 20 years. The situation will get worse unless we change our behavior."
- 1970 Boston Globe: Scientist Predicts New Ice Age by 21st Century said James P. Lodge, a scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research.
- 1971 Washington Post: Disastrous New Ice Age Coming says S.I. Rasool at NASA.
- 1972 Brown University Letter to President Nixon: Warning on Global Cooling

Wrong not artic warming but stratosphere warming over the pole pushing down the troposphere. Bastardi pointed this out a lot yesterday. He agrees the climate is warming of late but uncertain of reason. Last year where I live it was a warm winter. Easily noticed by my kilowatt usage. This year the opposite. For instance we have exceeded the average daily high temp about 3 times in the last 2 months. Maybe La Niña has to do with that which also portends a big hurricane season here.
Air pollution is horrible in big cities of China and India. People in Beijing were wearing masks long before the China virus arrived from somewhere.
And why would it go down this summer versus any other summer?
There are a few constants to the Texas summer. It is long, it is hot, it is humid, it ain’t very windy, and it sucks. The windmills have been out there for over a decade and there have been no serious blackouts.
Texas has an abundance of natural gas. They need natural gas electric plants next to pipelines so they can turn them up in situations like this. In Texas, heat is electric, just like air conditioners. Gas powered electric would solve the problem just like it does up north.
The end of snow and ice decree has been violated. Which science denier is responsible for such a breach?

Because the state is run by republicans who should have known better.
Re entrophy’s post #25 citing Chicago After the ice age melted millions of years back the Chicago area was a tropical sea. Chicago is built on decomposed sea shells we call limestone frequently huge shark remains as well as other aquatic remains are found in quarries that are located in and around the city.
The remnants of the last ice age are the Great Lakes and that was a mere 12000 years ago .
Point being weather is cyclic any decisions to deal with it should be based on what naturally occurred during those periods not on man made pseudo science.
My wife and I live in a rural location near the mountains that has a history of frequent power failures. We are used to it going out for days at a time. We and our neighbors flick a switch on our electrical panels and start up our generators. Many in Texas even in urban areas are going to have to adapt in the same way. Reading posts from people here is almost funny given our first hand experience dealing with power outages.
So what. So the power is off for a few hours. 100 years ago, no one had power.
Remember folks, the Arctic Ocean is going to be free of ice, or was already supposed to be free of ice, or something.
Al Gore....
I can’t locate it. I thought it was in print but not sure.
Al Gore said long ago “We may have lived through the last one of our normal winters. We are soon going into the phase of the first of our years without a winter. there will be slightly cool temperatures but no appreciable snow in the Midwest and Northeast. No true winter from now on. Similar to Southern states now.” I often remember Gore’s The Years of No Winter when I scrape the car windshield.
Dire predictions by highly esteemed experts ——
great list.
Has anyone broken all this to Greta? She may panic.
“You kept all this from me? From me? How dare you.”
Anybody who reads meteorologist Joe Bastardi on Tweater knew this was gonna be big trouble. He said 2 days before the storm hit it was similar impact to a Cat 4 hurricane. Smart guy. It’s all in his feed it anybody wants to go back and look.

I too remember his speeches about it plus pictures of him about that seminar he gave.
Well good for you! All these people and corporations are babies for wanting to have reliable power, heat and modern conveniences without having to spend money on backup systems. They don't understand like you do that sacrifices must be made in the name of Global Warming. /s
Of course where we live when the power goes out, we count ourselves darn lucky if it comes back on in a few hours. We are very fortunate to have a reliable supply of natural gas which costs us a third of what gasoline does to run our generators but it still costs over twice as much to generate our power. Others nearby have to rely on gasoline which costs approximately six times as much to generate their own power as what the utility company charges for electricity. And they have to make frequent trips to a gas station which typically has long lines during times when the power is off. Unfortunately, the stations nearby sometimes are not selling gasoline when the power is out.
But none of that matters to you because you believe it is more important to “save the planet” than have a reliable electric grid. You believe that climate models based on an unproven theory that have been shown to have zero predictive value over the past 40 years are reason enough to screw your fellow Texans who enjoy living in a modern society because a hundred years ago people didn't have a reliable electric grid and all the progress that has been made in that time just doesn't matter to you.
