BREAKING: Judge denies new arrest warrant for Kyle Rittenhouse

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A judge on Thursday refused prosecutors’ request to issue a new arrest warrant for an 18-year-old from Illinois who is accused of killing two people during a police brutality protest in Wisconsin last summer.

Kenosha County Circuit Judge Bruce Schroeder also rejected prosecutors’ request for a $200,000 bail increase for Kyle Rittenhouse, who came to Kenosha in August as hundreds were protesting the police shooting of Jacob Blake, a Black man.

Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger said in court filings that prosecutors realized Rittenhouse was no longer living at his apartment in Antioch, Illinois, when a court notice was returned as undeliverable. Kenosha detectives traveled to the apartment on Feb. 2 and found someone else living there. That man said he’d been renting the place since mid-December.

Rittenhouse’s attorneys argued that threats have forced Rittenhouse into hiding. He moved into an undisclosed “safe house” after conservative groups posted his initial $2 million bail in November. His attorneys say they have offered to reveal his current address to prosecutors but only if they would agree to keep it sealed.

“His attorneys say they have offered to reveal his current address to prosecutors but only if they would agree to keep it sealed.”

THAT’S a sucker move. NOTHING “sealed” is EVER sealed on the left.

Drive him into hiding with threats then try to jail him for hiding.

Rittenhouse is innocent until proven guilty by a judge and jury.

The totalitarian fascist state attorneys want to know where he is so he can be further harassed.

I look forward to seeing Kyle’s vigorous defense and his likely exoneration. The fascist state doesn’t have much of a case so they want to make his life miserable, untenable and dangerous.

” His attorneys say they have offered to reveal his current address to prosecutors but only if they would agree to keep it sealed. “

“Binger [the prosecutor] refused “

Why did detectives go to his house? Unless they had a warrant to search or arrest on a different charge, they have to go through his attorneys.

The attorneys in this case should open a complaint on the detectives.

Nothing in this case will be SOP. I hope Kyle has good counsel through all of this.

“but only if they would agree to keep it sealed.”

Nothing is sealed with those scum bags. They will get the word out as to where Kyle is living.

“Rittenhouse’s attorneys argued that threats have forced Rittenhouse into hiding.”

~~~
This should be obvious to anyone, including the Prosecutors. I thought of it after reading the headline and the first sentence of the article, so I know they can think of it too. It’s obviously for his own safety in this crazy political climate.
What they are saying, between the lines, is that they are pissed that he can’t be tracked or found by violent vigilantes and they want to change this. I personally doubt it’s the prosecutors themselves who want this, but powerful political extremists pushing on them.
I have no faith in his first ‘trial’. He will find justice upon appeal, imho.
If the rule of law were still relevent, all charges would be dropped and he would be transfered instead to witness protection status.
Per the article, because a court notice was returned as undeliverable. I guess it was to confirm he no longer lived there.
Doubt it. Demand a jury trial with all black juriors and show the video. Open and shut self defense case of him shooting and killing white people. Just a matter of giving the audience what they want to see.
Court notices go to the attorney of record. When attorneys file their notice of appearance in representing a client, it’s a way to say to the court “go through us”, this is not a pro-se case.
Since his attorneys are the point of contact, all the prosecutors proved to the judge is that they're out to harass him by any means.
Should make the trail interesting: good possibility of a mistrial due to misconduct by the prosecution.
From the Kenosha paper:
"“No matter what feelings anyone has, I took an oath to follow the constitution and that’s what I’ll do,” Schroeder said. Schroeder said it appeared that Kenosha County Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger had known since early in the case that Rittenhouse was not staying at the apartment in Antioch listed as his address on court documents."
So his lawyers informed them he had moved a long time ago, they then improperly sent a letter to him instead of to his lawyers to entrap him.
The prosecutor is a scumbag already engaged in misconduct.
They don’t want him to survive until trial.
The prosecutor is a scumbag already engaged in misconduct.
Corrupt prosecutors rarely suffer consequences for their illegalities. The only one I can think of who did was Mike Nifong in the infamous Duke Lacrosse case.
