Recent court documents have indicated that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) possesses a tool allowing them to access encrypted messages on the Signal app.
Signal has rapidly gained in popularity as Silicon Valley monopolists have grown more openly hostile to free speech, but the platform may be vulnerable to backdoors that undermine the privacy protections provided through the encrypted messaging service.
According to documents filed by the Department of Justice and first obtained by Forbes, Signal’s encrypted messages can be intercepted from iPhone devices when those Apple devices are in a mode called “partial AFU,” which means “after first unlock.”

When phones are in partial AFU mode, Signal messages can be seized by federal authorities and other potentially hostile interests. GrayKey and Cellebrite are the tools typically used by the FBI to gain this sensitive information, an expert has explained.
“It uses some very advanced approach using hardware vulnerabilities,” said Vladimir Katalov, who founded the Russian forensics company ElcomSoft, believing that GrayKey was used by federal authorities to crack Signal.
This vulnerability within the Signal app may not be a design flaw, but rather a deliberate backdoor to allow authorities to access private messages. The app was initially funded with backing from the deep state, after all.
Big League Politics has reported about the rise of Telegram, a pro-privacy app that is Signal’s most direct competitor:
The New York Times is prodding Telegram to censor right-wing voices and hamper the platform’s amazing growth as mainstream social media platforms enact Draconian censorship.
The notorious fake news rag published an article on Tuesday imploring Telegram to do more to stop so-called “far-right conspiracy theorists, racists and violent insurrectionists” from using the app to communicate.
“There’s a real push and pull between the people that are using Telegram — and messengers like it — for good, and the people who are using them to undermine democracy,” said Nina Jankowicz, a disinformation analyst at the globalist Wilson Center.
“We see the same openness and sense of connection that is used by democratic activists opportunistically exploited by extremists,” she added…
“Telegram has never yielded to pressure from officials who wanted us to perform political censorship,” Durov wrote several years ago.
Durov, a Russian-born libertarian, has run into trouble with the Kremlin over Telegram, but the Russian government has come around on the platform and now regularly use it. Dmitry Polyanskiy, Russia’s deputy ambassador to the United Nations, even urged former President Donald Trump to get on the platform after he was banned by Big Tech.
“Seems like you don’t enjoy freedom of speech in your own country any more!” Mr. Polyanskiy wrote.
Although Trump is not currently on the platform, his son, Donald Trump Jr., has joined Telegram and already commands a massive following on the pro-free speech app.
Telegram may be a better option than Signal for individuals hoping to safeguard their rights, considering Signal’s vulnerabilities and deep state ties.

I am of the mind ‘they’ can see whatever you have to say, anywhere AND everywhere online.
‘They’ are your friend.
“not your friend”...edit
Wonder if this is real? Many people like myself dumped WhatsApp because of its ties to Facebook. Signal claims to be independent and secure. So, either the deep state is lying or signal? I suspect the deep state may be trying to discourage people from using the app but who knows.
Big Brother loves you.😝
Jack Dorsey is on the board of Signal. Nuff said.
So what?
Sorry but my take is that the FBI is as corrupt as can be.
If they found evidence of criminal behavior, wouldn’t they just deep six it.
Decipher this:
"The chair is against the wall"
"John has a long mustache"
They is short for “the humans enslaving you.”
I saw that the FBI reads the posts here on Free Republic.
The rest of this post is STRICTLY for the FBI.
Only employees of the FBI may read the rest of this post.
This is your last warning!
Hi guys. Are you clogged up? Do your bowels feel like they are holding back more than the Grand Coulee Dam? Has it been a week since you dropped a brown bunker buster?

“Jack Dorsey is on the board of Signal. Nuff said.”
No, he is not. That is disinformation. Please cite your source.
This took me 15 seconds:
“Signal is developed by Signal Messenger LLC, whose parent organization is the Signal Technology Foundation. They’ve just recently tweeted:
We are a 501c3 nonprofit. We’re not tied to any major tech companies, and we can never be acquired by one either. Development is supported by grants and donations from Signal users.
They are not associated with Twitter or Jack Dorsey in any way. Currently, the Signal Foundation’s board consists of only three people: Brian Acton (who left WhatsApp/Facebook in 2017), Moxie Marlinspike, and Meredith Whittaker.
As for the question of trust:
Signal conversations are always end-to-end encrypted, which means that they can only be read or heard by your intended recipients. Privacy isn’t an optional mode — it’s just the way that Signal works. Every message, every call, every time. You can confirm that the server is operating correctly and that you are communicating with the right person using safety numbers.
The complete source code for the Signal clients and the Signal server is available on GitHub. This enables interested parties to examine the code for security and correctness.”

“They’ is also a moving target.
That you for confirming my suspicion that this is deep state information.
Viber
Telegram
Do you have a link for that? Wiki says that as of October 2020 the Signal Foundation has 3 board members and Jack-a$$ is not one of them. Signal Messenger is subsidiary of the Foundation but I can’t find any info if there are any board members for it.
So a link to the info would be much appreciated.
Very misleading article. To “intercept” (wrong term, probably purposeful), you have to have the device itself, and plug it into your cracking setup. Then run their code and maybe, maybe they can break in.
But they can’t “intercept” communications in realtime, via airwaves, and decode the messages. Not possible. Only if they have the physical device (phone) with a court order, can they try to break in. And there is no guarantee even then.
Disinformation!!!! As usual, FR is being used to make conservatives fearful of using a safe, secure app. Remember the Parler disinformation here? The 5G disinfo? Trace the source deeply and you’ll find their competitors, government, or china.
Signal is open source, and every line of their code has been audited by the best hackers in the world multiple times. It’s a competion with them—find a flaw, get fame in the community. They try very hard to find flaws, and with open source, they can’t ne hidden.
Go download and look at the code. Read the audits, available publically. If there were security concerns, it would be fixed long ago, or the entire hacker community wouldn’t use it. And they do use it, and that drives the CIA and KGB I mean FIB nuts.
It’s safe, I use it, and I grew up hacking (white hat).
....long time
“That you for confirming my suspicion that this is deep state information.”
Deep state ops to discredit signal, yes. Or competitors, or china, imo.
> “Wonder if this is real?”
I saw a comment on a tech board that Signal could be monitored and it left me curious.
When I saw Jack Dorsey endorsing the use of Signal for those covering the million or more Trump supporters on the Mall January 6, I thought it odd and decided to do some digging. I couldn’t understand why the CEO of Twitter would encourage people to use Signal.
I found that a Twitter IT security pro had joined the Signal app startup about ten years ago and stayed in close contact with Dorsey.
But then I was told that Signal was ‘open source’ which seemed to indicate there was no spy capability and that it was end-to-end encrypted.
I also noted that over the years many large tech companies were getting nervous about open source groups competing against them. Some large companies such as Microsoft were starting to offer certain tools as open source. It was like a trend to follow but at the same time keep some degree of control. It was evident that open source apps were making the Tech world become concerned.
Then I read about Telegram and how it is also open source and distinguished itself as *true* end-to-end encrypted as opposed to Signal which was only *partially* encrypted in transmission between sender and receiver. Partially encrypted, what does that mean?
On my smartphone Telegram app, when I am talking, texting or sending files with another Telegram user, I can view a square QR Code also written in digits that can be compared with that of the other user I’m communicating with and if the codes match, that means we are totally secure. These codes change with each new communication.
If I am using Signal the encryption is from client-server to server-client. It is possible for an entity to listen in between a smartphone and the client entity. It’s not true end-to-end encryption, almost but not quite.
I’ve also started to use GAB which I don’t think has any open source or encrypted capability. It’s like Twitter without the censorship.
Soo for me it’s Telegram and GAB. I don’t need much else.

Telegram is getting on just about every prominent Trumpian you can think of. It’s so effective that the SWAMP is trying to figure out how to take it down like was done to Parler. But it’s more difficult to deplatform because it’s worldwide with 500+ million users with different servers locations/VPNs etc. And it’s true end-to-end encrypted.
