Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said on Friday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is sending the article of impeachment against former President Trump to the Senate on Monday, paving the way for a trial.
The House of Representatives this month voted to impeach Trump for the second time in his presidency for "incitement of insurrection" after a mob of his supporters besieged the Capitol on Jan. 6 in a failed attempt to stop the certification of then-President-elect Joe Biden's electoral college win.
"I've spoken to Speaker Pelosi who informed me that the article will be delivered to the Senate on Monday," Schumer, D-N.Y., said on the Senate floor Friday.
Pelosi confirmed her plan in a separate statement.
"We are respectful of the Senate’s constitutional power over the trial and always attentive to the fairness of the process, noting that the former president will have had the same amount of time to prepare for trial as our Managers," Pelosi said. "Our Managers are ready to begin to make their case to 100 Senate jurors through the trial process."
Schumer has been discussing how to organize the Senate and special rules for the upcoming impeachment trial with Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.
No agreement has been reached on either front. If one is not on impeachment rules before Monday, then the standing Senate impeachment rules will go into effect, forcing the Senate to convene every day at 1 p.m., excluding Sundays, to consider the impeachment "until final judgment shall be rendered."
McConnell suggested a set of pre-trial procedures on Thursday that would delay the event by a few weeks, but the decision by Pelosi, D-Calif., instead sends the Senate potentially careening on a collision course with a full trial next week.

Its a set-up to get conservatives to DC so paid rioters from Antifa, BLM, etc. can blend in and cause mayhem or worse, etc. for them (Antifa, BLM,etc.) to try to get the National Guard and Real conservatives to tussle, etc.
You can count on at least 17 of them “voting their conscience”. The deals has already been cut.
The point is to try to make it so he can never run for office again....yes, they are THAT afraid of him and by extension, his voters.
Oh how they hate? Complete 100% hatred?
I think the goal is....somehow (by a miracle) they can find around 15 GOP senators to vote with the Democrats. Presently, the number is suggested to be around 7.
To be blunt, I also think that with the mess that will be going on for four years...there’s no doubt in their mind that Trump can win in 2024. If true, he’d return and probably dismiss more than 20-percent of the FBI/CIA folks, and downsize the DoJ drastically. He learned an awful lot over the past year.
Actually, McConnell would rather push out the impeachment, as it ties Trump away from offending the Senate with talk if a new party or a Quo Warranto or whatever lawsuit.
Nancy is moving up the timeline, which means Trump will get this resolved earlier. This helps Trump.
What you say about a felony conviction makes sense. Keep it quiet. Let the morons play in the Senate.

The only insurrection I’ve seen is the election itself and the fraudulent voting that a conspiracy have allowed to stand. The fact that it’s a very large conspiracy does not alter these basic premises.
The alleged insurrection, by contrast, was merely some unfocused disorder, not even proven to have anything much to do with Trump, or his actual supporters. Half the people indicted seem to be anarchists or ANTIFA types.
The case against Donald Trump is weak. The case against Biden and his associates is strong. Bring it on, but try all alleged crimes at the same time.

Schumer is a Middle Low German word meaning “good-for-nothing” or “vagabond”.
Since the articles were delivered AFTER Biden was sworn in, I’d say the impeachment was not valid until it was delivered to the Senate. Except President Trump had left by that time. I guess I’m saying he was never even impeached for a second time because delivery is part of the process.
