A couple things would have happened if Pence unilaterally ignored the election results in the Senate.
1) The Democrats would immediately sue and it would go before the Supreme Court within 24 hours and overturned. Even a Republican Majority could not allow it as it would create the Precedent of any future Democrat Vice President being given the authority to unilaterally void an electoral college and Congressional certification vote. It was always a ludicrous argument.
2) Pence would be promptly impeached by Pelosi and likely would have to resign or face a Senate trial.
The only thing it may have done was stop the riot and insurrection and make Pence a folk hero to millions and likely 2024 front runner in the primary. It wouldn't have given Trump a second term though.
Exactly. The court would have immediately shot it down. The Q bots had swallowed the whole scenario hook line and sinker. Trump hurt himself badly by calling Pence out. Hope he survives the Senate vote......

Bull! It would have been the right and honorable and Constituional thing to do. Pence chose the path of those involved in the overthrow of a the President of the United State of America.
The real problem was Trump’s lawyers wasted so much time “building their case” when the trial was being played out in the court of public opinion. They should’ve presented whatever case they had.
He could have placed the votes aside from disputed states. It could then go to the Supreme Court. It would be found a legitimate tactic, due to questionable practices. That would then throw the votes back to the state’s Congressional representatives to vote for the state.
He could’ve required an inspection of the fake votes
Pence is and always was a coward. He folded like a cheap suit when the LGBT stormtroopers came after him as governor of Indians and now he’s going to this voter fraud president’s inauguration.

He could ask for a delay not change the election result. The state legislators would have time to submit their electors.
I never expected Pence to give the Presidency to Trump but I did expect investigations into criminal, election fraud and court cases and trials. None of this happened, everything was brushed under the rugs and ballots were shredded.

So we are to go back to believing Pence is a really nice guy so lets vote for him in 2024? Pence was always going to follow the rules. But he is no MAGA populist politician. He wears his religion on his sleeve like a shield against criticism. You can say I am jaded, which I am, but I do not believe Pence is anything more than a Christian swamp creature. I would not vote for him again.

I had to laugh at this. This supreme court would just stand by and watch. They are too afraid of getting involved in politics.
I don’t see the point of having a certification vote by congress if they are only allowed to vote one way.

Sigh!! The title totally misunderstands what voters wanted Pence to do.
They are NOT asking Pence to declare anyone the winner, he does not have the power to do that and even Trump acknowledges that.
They are asking Pence to SERIOUSLY CONSIDER the petition of the state legislatures who wrote to him to express their doubts about the accuracy of their results and the legality of choosing their electors.
