FReeper Canteen ~ MERRY CHRISTMAS 2020 ~ 25 December 2020
Serving The Best Troops and Veterans In The World !! | The Canteen Crew

Posted on 12/24/2020 5:59:52 PM PST by Kathy in Alaska

For Unto You Is Born This Day...
A Savior...Christ The Lord

Merry CHRISTmas, Troops!!

LUKE 2:1-20
King James Version (KJV)

1..And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

2..(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

3..And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

4..And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David)

5..To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

6..And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

7..And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

8..And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9..And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10..And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11..For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

12..And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13..And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14..Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

15..And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

16..And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

17..And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

18..And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

19..But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

20..And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

I can’t even imagine giving one of these cats a haircut. LOL! Although, Peaches does let me use kitty wipes to bathe him when he gets really dusty and he lets me clean his ears...reluctantly. Pandy sounds like she was very special.

I used to bake hams from scratch, but I got over it. Too much time involved. I used to decorate them with pineapple and glaze and the whole works. I got over it. LOL! Hope your ham is as good as the “real” thing.

Very good! plenty of food to last a couple of days. Yum yum!
Is it supposed to be another nice day for an outing?
It’s supposed to be sunny here but quite cold.

I’m not sure if you knew this, but ‘O Holy Night’ has a very special place in history.

On December 24th, 1906, in Brant Rock, Massachusetts, Prof. Reginald Fessenden made the first ever radio broadcast with voice and music. He made a Christmas greeting, read from the Bible in Luke, chapter 2, then picked up his violin and played the very first music heard over radio...’O Holy Night’. He ended the broadcast with a wish for a joyous New Year, and that was it. He repeated the broadcast on Dec. 26th.

He didn’t get credit for what he did until the 1960’s, but he was the one you can thank for radio as we know it today.

Lucky you with your white Christmas and the time to just sit and enjoy it.

We had highs winds and temps in the 40s earlier this week...no more flocked trees.
I do have a 10' tall pile of snow in my yard, as the plow guy has to push it up on my lawn.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Great! Sounds like a fun day ahead for y’all.
Maybe that “warmer” will move over here soon. :-) We aren’t supposed to get out of the 20s today.

I just used scissors to cut Pandy’s hair, not noisy clippers. I don’t think she would have like those. Her haircuts were butcher jobs but she was happy with them. LOL

I checked the instructions again for the ham and it won’t need to be in the oven as long as I thought it would. I misread the timing the first time I read it. It’s simple and I don’t mind. It’ll make the house smell good too. Mmm, mmm, mmm!
I do hope Hubby likes it. We really couldn’t swing a Honey Baked ham this year, plus it’s a 50 mile drive each way to the nearest store.

Goodness, 50 miles is a long way to drive just for a ham. LOL! But they must be worth it or people wouldn’t do it.

Guess I’d better head out. I need a clear head when I make biscuits in the morning. I’ll say one thing...they won’t be made early. :)

Merry Christmas. Enjoy all that delicious food. I’m hungry just thinking about it.

We’ve driven to Nashville twice to get one of those hams, years ago, and that’s even farther away. Hubby really likes those hams. I pray he likes this one.

That’s right. Tomorrow is biscuit day for you, isn’t it? Don’t want to mess those up! Get a good night’s sleep and have a wonderful day.

Good morning, Canteen. Good morning to our

AWESOME

Military, our Allies, and their families.

Thank you, Ma, for preparing the Canteen
for today's activities.

Whew boy did we get blasted last night.
Yesterday, was mostly rainy
but late last night we got the deluge and gale-force winds.
I'm surprised we woke with power.
Some of the southern family say they got snow.
Glad we are staying home.
Now we wait for the cold snap.

Hope everyone is safe and has a wonderful Christmas day

Gonna run but please stick around and visit with the military
and/or family members.
That's what we're here for.

The FR Canteen is ALWAYS

Come in and sit for a while.
There's always plenty of coffee, tea,
pancakes, conversation, silliness,
and plain old BS

REMEMBER THEM ~ DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM

Merry Christmas!

The weather is so nasty today that Penny and I are staying in.

I really don’t mind. We had a nice bonfire and caroling at church last night.
