Lawyer Lin Wood announced he will represent fellow attorney Sidney Powell after voting machine manufacturer Smartmatic demanded that she retract statements alleging the company was involved in voter fraud during the Nov. 3 election.
“Knowing my background & experience in defamation law, Sidney [Powell] asked me to represent her & respond to SmartMatic litigation threat,” Wood wrote on Twitter. “Since everything Sidney is saying about election fraud is documented TRUTH, my response to SmartMatic was simple & to the point.”
Smartmatic previously sent out a letter demanding retractions from Newsmax, OAN, and Fox News, according to a statement. Fox News’ Lou Dobbs and Newsmax issued responses after the letters were sent.
Wood, who successfully defended a number of high-profile individuals in defamation lawsuits, posted an email response to J. Erik Connolly with Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLP, the firm representing Smartmatic. Wood also posted the letter the firm sent to Powell that had demanded the retraction.
In the letter, Wood wrote that he “carefully reviewed your letter on December 15, 2020. I am not impressed. Ms. Powell retracts nothing.”
“File your lawsuit,” he added. Wood’s message was re-tweeted by Powell on Sunday to her more than 1 million followers.
The Epoch Times reached out to Connolly for comment about the letter.
According to what appears to be a copy of the law firm’s letter (pdf) to Powell, it said she “engaged in a concerted disinformation campaign against Smartmatic” and “appeared on numerous news networks, including but not limited to, Fox News, Fox Business, and Newsmax, and told millions of viewers that Smartmatic was created under the direction of Hugo Chávez, that its software was designed to fix elections, and that Smartmatic conspired with others to defraud the American people and fix the 2020 U. S. election by changing, inflating,

I recall Sidney stating that she looked forward to this, and the ‘discovery’ involved.
They hoped they could bully and bluff her into retracting.
This Eric Dude could have a blowup courtesy CCP like the Sen Loeffler staffer did
Tell them they can go and suck on some spoiled eggs.
This is getting interesting.
YESSSSS! Make them call their bluff.
Yep, then he can get depositions. They will never file.
Why?
Wood shows more guts than Fox and its legal team.

I was watching some Netflix show about Richard Jewell and the Olympic bombing. It was Lin Wood that Richard hired. IIRC he was the only lawyer Richard knew - and was a real estate lawyer at the time! (At least that’s how the show described Lin.)
The only trouble was, most (all?) of those cases (CNN, The Post, etc.) were settled out of court. With this election stuff, I’m not sure that would be the best case. To me settling out of court is the same as admitting guilt - but did anything really change? The media are STILL telling their lies and even more today.
GO LIN and God Bless You, you and POTUS seem to be the ONLY 2 people interested in defending our republic can’t wait to see discovery!!

Candidate Trump addressed this numerous times during his Primary. He called out Corporate Cowards for this as being responsible for the litigious state of affairs in the USA. He told his audiences that he NEVER EVER pays off anyone who files frivolous or intimidation suits against Trump, Inc. Ever.
He told his audiences that he pays more to defend his company than he would have to pay to make them go away simply On Principle.
Delicious.
General Anthony McAuliffe was more succinct in response to german demands to surrender at Bastogne, “Nuts” was his reply.
Lawyers always use too many words.
smartmatic will never sue, they can’t stand the depositions. faux should know this as well but they don’t want the truth either.
I watched that recently- the way I remember the ending events is that all lawsuits were settled, with the exclusion of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Employer of the cokehead reporter that was the main reporter and the suit against her. I forget her name, but she died, as well as Richard Jewell, at age 44 from diabetes complications (I think about eight years after).
Sounds like Smartmatic is going to need a bigger law firm. Cue the JAWS music.
Sounds like Sydney may become very wealthy.
His Chinese masters don’t like negative publicity
Imagine all the "discovery" Powell could get for her lawsuits charging Smartmatic with voter fraud.
Not a very "smart" move on their part.
