It is most certainly working. Remember that NFL is the only thing left in the crumbling cable empire.
NFL is having to give away time on New Years Day because they didn’t hit their ratings numbers on normal game days.
Advertisers are also sort of stuck - very few places left where they can grab eyeballs like they used to.
Nah, it’s definitely having an impact.

Public funding sports teams and stadiums is a different matter. that should never be done! That's socialism at the worst. The owners (to a lesser extent the players) make billions while the city or state gets a few peanuts back in the form of increased tax revenue. Multiple studies have proven that if you really want to help a city, then fix the schools, fund the police so that crime is decreased or offer a company that can bring significant jobs to the city an incentive. How many jobs does an NFL team bring? A couple hundred at most

No it’s because it’s still the highest rated program out there. And 99% of the viewers watch live, so they see the commercials.

With all the Range Rover ads I've missed on the NFL broadcasts I haven't watched I couldn't care less. After being a sports fan for 60 years I'm done with professional sports.

Well, OK then don’t watch. But other people are. So much so that the networks are willing to commit $100 Billion over 10 years

I don’t if I should believe those viewership numbers anymore. It’s the old adage: follow the money. But we have seen over the last few years SJWs overspend obscene amounts of money on things that anyone with common sense knew would fail.
For example Katie Couric and Meg Kelly's tens of millions to read the news, the Gillette commercial, the all female Terminator, Ghostbusters, Ocean's 11 and other woke movie bombs that keep coming out.
Hell, all Disney had to do was make the Star Wars sequels slightly better than the prequels and they would have made 10's of Billions, but they went with the SJW crap instead and ended up braking even at at best
So yeah, someone over paying the NFL (and probably out of spite too) doesn't surprise me.

There are still plenty of NFL threads here, so there is no boycott. All bark, no bite.

The only way they make money is if people watch and/or but their merchandise. I don't know about the NFL because I haven't watched even a minute since the whole Kaepernick thing went down. But I still watch college sports and there, at least, they are no longer advertising, for the most part, to people like myself. They seem to be going after blacks and mixed race couples. My understanding is that people in these groups have less disposable income than people like myself.

The facts (being ignored) are that ratings are more than half what they were last year and there’s nothing else to watch!Yup. If they were living in the real world, they would realize that their 'customers' have abandoned them even when your average Joe has nothing else to do. People are stuck at home, yet they still are tuning out in record numbers. They should be setting huge records in viewership numbers, but they don't seem to notice that noone cares any more.
The only reason I read these threads is for the delicious schadenfreude pie.

Guess they boycott isn’t working. NFL is getting crushed. Stories are everywhere if you're paying attention. Down 29% from last year, when they had already lost huge viewership.
They've been going down every year boycott or not, but this year they're getting destroyed.

I read earlier today ratings are down for all the games across all the networks. So how can a new monster contract be justified?
