Wearing a used mask could be more dangerous than not wearing one at all when it comes to warding off COVID-19, a new study has found.
A new three-layer surgical mask is 65 percent efficient in filtering particles in the air — but when used, that number drops to 25 percent, according to the study published Tuesday in the Physics of Fluids

Guess I am one of those people who wear the same dam mask that I keep on the seat in the car.

Guess I am one of those people who wear the same dam mask that I keep on the seat in the car. Same here, but I wear it under my chin so I'm not too worried about this.

Count me as one of those. I also have a very thin neck gaiter with the nose and jaw of a skull printed on it. I use it if I’m going to be wearing it for more than a few minutes. It’s so thin it’s easy to breathe. As a bonus, I get some disgusted looks. I wear it over and over too.

Irrelevant. The purpose of the muzzles isn’t to stop the virus. The function is social conditioning and an overt public symbol of blind submission. The muzzles perform those functions no matter how old they are.

The article makes no sense:
“ They found that wearing a mask “significantly slows down” airflow, reducing a mask’s efficacy and making a person more susceptible to inhaling aerosols into the nose — where SARS-CoV-2 likes to lurk.”
What!?

I change mine every time I remove it. But then I’m more worried about noro than WuFlu.
And between the two, I’d rather have WuFlu.

"Guess I am one of those people who wear the same dam mask that I keep on the seat in the car." Nope.. I do that every day.. I don't know how old that mask is but every day I make a commitment to get a new one. But, for some reason that never seems to happen...

i wear a neck gaiter. Super thin, super simple. When I walk into a store i pull it up, and when i walk out i pull it down. Its too thin to stop anything, but it checks the box.
To: ChicagoConservative27
Me too. I have masks in all of my cars, a box on my dresser. I even have one stuffed in my pocket right now. I could care less if they are new or used.

I was taught dirty air filters restrict more/smaller particles.

I bought a box of 50 for $5, but the things take a surprisingly long time to wear oholes in even after wadding them up in a pants pocket over and over and retreiving them from the garbage container at the bottom of your car door. But thank goodness they have kept the Karens all around me feeling safe. But how does a study like this gauge the worthlessness of a dust mask designed to stop particles 1000nm and larger when trying to stop viral particles in flem that are approximately 60nm? Or how about all the people wearing bandannas made of a thin layer of fabric which was never designed to filter anything? This worthless virtue signaling nonsense only gives people sick with a contagious respiratory ailment an excuse to go out in public and expose others to whatever they have and wipe their snot soaked fingers off on door handles and shopping carts.

It’s a kindness to businesses so they can stay open. We know not everyone can afford enough security to stop ratfinks. Yes, nosefree if you can. I only got stopped once.
To: ChicagoConservative27
For several months I have had a blue mask with the two white layers removed, and a homemade cheesecloth mask or two. There are some places such as a doctor’s office where I have to wear a mask, since I can’t really take my business elsewhere. Aside from that, the only time I’ll put on any mask is if I’m asked (politely) by a store employee, and even then I’m not likely to return to that store. Karens are ignored or mocked.
