Sen. Joe Manchin took a jab at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s abilities as a lawmaker, describing her as “more active on Twitter than anything else,” amid their ongoing feud.
Speaking to the New York Times, Manchin (D-WVa.) made the remarks while discussing his plans as a centrist in a divided government.
Manchin specifically responded to AOC posting a photo to Twitter last month in which she could be seen staring daggers at the West Virginia senator as he looked away.

Careful Joe. You are but a leaf on the wind, going wherever the prevailing breeze takes you.
AOC is a committed leftist with powerful backers.
This is a fight Manchin can’t win.
Manchin continues his PRETENCE.
Hoping for something to laugh at among the demonrats for the next two years.
Would Manchin flip to the Republicans, if it means keeping Comrade Schumer from becoming majority leader ?
Manchin’s Sister Souljah moment.

I’ve been wondering about that. He’s from WV, which is solid red, so it would be a politically safe move.
A while back I thought that he would do just that, but since then he voted for impeachment and voted against Amy Coney Barrett.
It's hard to believe he could win re-election in WV as a Democrat, and as a Republican, he might not win the nomination. So I think he shot himself in the foot and this Senate term is probably his last.
I have a cousin who lives in WV who is a semi-bigwig in the WV VFW and he's a strong conservative. He knows Joe Manchin personally and has voted for him in the past. But the last function that he went to where Manchin was present, my cousin wouldn't even go over to talk to him. So if Manchin has lost support like this, he's probably toast.
Manchin wants to run for president !
He wants to follow the Bill Clinton model of “moderate splitting the two radical left & right” from a social conservative state. (Yes in spite of past actions he still thinks he is a moderate!)
I think he’s out of sync with the times with this strategy. 2020-2024 culturally & politically have little to do with 1992. What worked then will not work now. In fact if Biden wins Manchin will be completely out of step with the rest of the AOC-”Hard-care-Left” of the Rat party. It’s doubtful he could take his ambition and cross-over to the GOP. Who would trust him ? He has stayed in office in WV because the WV GOP have run a series of mediocre candidates against him. His last election his entire campaign consisted of pointing out that the GOP candidate was not a native WV’ian. (Yes that matters here!)
Probably the only certain thing about this ‘dispute’ is that Manchin’s replacement will be a Republican. A food fight like this one helps Manchin hold on a little longer, and it probably benefits AOC with her constituents as well. She’ll probably be redistricted out of office next year anyway. Call it “Nancy’s Revenge”.
Manchin has had his opportunities to flip. He’s passed on it every time.
*** She’ll probably be redistricted out of office next year anyway. Call it “Nancy’s Revenge”. ***
I’d be very surprised. I think AOC has some real power behind her and even Nancy wouldn’t want that fight if she didn’t have to have it.
I admit that I am a bit of a contrarian about the Democrats. Do I believe they are a socialist party? Yes. Do I believe that they are a Marxist party? No.
AOC is the latter and her usefulness is at an end... same goes for Bernie. Nancy, Joe and the bunch are basically doing the bidding of their corporate masters at Google, Walmart & Amazon. And they’ll get rich in the process of furthering those goals. Meanwhile flyover country will revert back to the trucking terminal being the biggest employer outside the public schools system and the regional mega-health center.
WV Governor Justice is angling for an opportunity to be senator. He’ll either challenge Manchin in 2024 or Capito in 2026. My bet is Manchin. The question is from what side of the aisle will Justice do this. Prior to running for governor as a Democrat he was a Republican. (He switched to run.) Right after he won in 2016 it switched back to being a Republican. He’s perfectly capable of switching again if he thinks there is an advantage to be gained over Manchin or Capito.
Exactly. He thinks his years as a Senator give him credibility. He’ll be swiped away by the left so easily he won’t know what hit him.
