President Trump has told friends he wants to start a digital media company to clobber Fox News and undermine the conservative-friendly network, sources tell Axios.
The state of play: Some Trump advisers think Fox News made a mistake with an early call (seconded by AP) of President-elect Biden's win in Arizona. That enraged Trump, and gave him something tangible to use in his attacks on the network.
"He plans to wreck Fox. No doubt about it," said a source with detailed knowledge of Trump's intentions.
With loyal viewers and longtime dominance, Fox Corp. CEO Lachlan Murdoch said on a Nov. 3 earnings call:
"We love competition. We have always thrived with competition. ... Fox News has been the number one network, including broadcast networks, ... from Labor Day through to Election Day."

Instead, Trump is considering a digital media channel that would stream online, which would be cheaper and quicker to start.
Trump's digital offering would likely charge a monthly fee to MAGA fans. Many are Fox News viewers, and he'd aim to replace the network — and the $5.99-a-month Fox Nation streaming service, which has an 85% conversation rate from free trials to paid subscribers — as their top destination.

Digital media ‘streaming online’ is great for the liberals in the cities, but the rural areas have no broadband. Good luck getting liberals to watch.
All this "digital" and "streaming" and "subscription" stuff will connect with some folks, but not the masses.

Win (or lose) the election, Trump is going to beat his media enemies (FOX) like a drum. Some time ago (it’s been a while), Don Jr. was talking about an alternative to the enemedia so “Trump heads” & have been thinking about/working on this issue for a while already. After the major backstabbing FOX has been doing for the last 2 years or so (the mask was totally ripped off & it became blatantly obvious to even the FOX-a-holics during the election coverage), I think Trump will be very inclined to “do something”, and I’m sure it will be a ‘humdinger’.
People who ‘go against’ Trump end up paying for their treachery one way or another ... call it the “Trump Curse” or “Trump Karma”. It will work against the enemedia too - FOX is proving to be a good example thus far, with ratings crashing.

I never liked their news broadcasts. They do too much teasing. Sometimes they even say that a story that piques your interest is "coming up," and then after you wait through a raft of annoying ads for My Pillow and other products you don't want or need, they don't bring up the story, so you have to wait through another raft of annoying ads. I have seen broadcasts in which they never show a story that they announce is "coming up."
Basically, for rural distribution Trump needs to negotiate carriage rights on Dish Network and DirecTV as a $5.99 premium channel add on for those that want it. Pretty much anyone rural who has no broadband has satellite tv because there’s nothing else available.
Premium channel access on Dish/DirecTV along with the streaming access for everyone else who has broadband will do it.
This is the best way to go as any Trump branded cable TV channel simply won’t make money as Trump is persona non Grata with advertisers. The liberals will boycott and riot on any Trump advertiser. Ad-free subscription is the right play. Trump is a businessman. He’s not stupid.
Now, a lot of his supporters won’t pay $5.99 a month for his channel but he doesn’t need 73 Million to subscribe to make a killing. He only needs 5-10 Million and I think he can get it.

The problem would be advertisers. None of the big woke corporations will advertise on a Trump channel. They already don't advertise on Tucker Carlson's show, which is Faux's highest rated show.
FOX news has been playing Conservatives for at least 15 years. I always cringe when I hear a conservative say they trust Fox news.

No they don’t. They may get 1-2 network channels and have a slow speed internet, but no broadband or satellite dish.
Elon Musk’s StarLink will solve that problem.
This sounds nice, but getting carriage on national distribution systems is not easy—and he will be an Ex President when this happens. And the question would be, “why would he do this?”
And he is already a billionaire in a business that he “knows” and has not managed in 4 years.
I think if he loses he goes back to being “the Donald.”
