The Defending the Integrity of Voting Systems Act was unanimously approved by the House last month, over a year after the Senate also unanimously passed the legislation. Trump signed the legislation on Tuesday, just two weeks before the election.
The bipartisan bill was introduced by Sens. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) last year.

"Strong safeguards enacted by this law are necessary to protect our election systems against threats from foreign adversaries seeking to undermine our democracy," Blumenthal said. "The Department of Justice will now be equipped with powerful tools to vigorously prosecute and stop malicious hackers attempting to hack our election infrastructure."
"With just 13 days until Election Day, this law is critical and I am proud to have fought for its passage," he added.

Make it a capital crime and we’ll see less fraud.
Ouch! I bet the dems didn’t expect this to bite them im the ass!
What is the effective date of this law?
2040?/s
it wasn’t a federal crime to begin with?
time to clean up this mess
How isn’t it an existing law? Influencing the outcome of an electon or something.
If it passed it must have loopholes that will allow the fraudsters to escape unscathed
What is new is hacking voting machines. Apparently there is an assinine recent supreme court that determines it doesn’t qualify as wire fraud [the genius of Roberts again, I think].
The one time you wish our Constitution didn’t prohibit ex post facto laws.....
DISREGARD MY PREVIOUS COMMENT! I didn’t see that the post was from October.
Let me get this straight. A moth before the election a law was passed with unanimous house and senate support and signed by the president making voting machine hacking a federal crime and we now have claims of substantial election machine hacking by the dems. Does this law apply to this election or did they sneak in a ‘starting in 2022’ clause?
It was to catch the Rooshians.
Are any teeth in this bill?
Uh, did it say the hackers had to be foreign?
“Ouch! I bet the dems didnt expect this to bite them im the ass!”
It won’t. It became law when Trump signed it.
One clue is AG Barr's grandson has been named as the top enforcer. When he has time.
So now, only domestic Leftists can hack our voting systems, correct?
If Blumenthal and Whitehouse were involved with it, the bill must have been aimed at Russia, not other DemocRats.
Too bad, Rats, your necks are now in the trap and you didn’t even get to taste the cheese!
No laws ex post facto. But that's another reason for the 2nd.
Yep.
