Between the civil unrest, the corona virus pandemic and a divisive election Tuesday, business owners are weighing the prospect of further unrest in a way they havent during past elections.
Shoppers may see more stores doing business behind boarded-up windows or closing early Tuesday as businesses take extra safety precautions.
Ive got four more jobs after this one, Joe Daniels, an employee of Midlothian-based Cook County Board-Up, said as he wrapped up a job on Clybourn.
Were headed to the Gold Coast next, he said. Theyre all worried about the election.
Retailers are used to responding to emergencies like severe storms, but its harder to predict when and where civil unrest will strike. Precautions also will depend on whether they think employees will be able to get to work and whether customers will feel comfortable shopping.
What Im afraid of is, these businesses may see nothing happen Tuesday and take everything down, Daniels said. There could be stuff that happens after Election Day.
Macys covered the windows on its State Street store with black boards Friday. The chain said it was adding security measures at several stores out of an abundance of caution."
Some stores will not open Tuesday.
The city has been planning for the election since the summer, Mayor Lori Lightfoot said.
City officials said they will increase police patrols and are prepared to deploy 60 to 300 heavy city vehicles to protect commercial corridors and critical businesses.
The Office of Emergency Management and Communications is encouraging businesses to consider extra precautions like removing flammable materials, securing outdoor furniture, adding security personnel or temporarily altering hours during times of potential demonstrations and activity, including Election Day.
The Illinois National Guard has activated an unspecified number of troops in the event of election-related unrest.

They will hit 800 this year no problem.
Think of the “idea” of Antifa as a hurricane with a pet dragon.
Then you can properly prepare.
In every DemocRAT run state they are preparing for riots... They should be. Their populaces have been told for four years by an unhinged media that Trump can’t win.
Tomorrow Trump will win and the loser DemocRATS will instruct their faithful to do what they do best... RIOT!

Well, tell all the cops to stay home and stay safe because all they will be is targets. The stinking liberal politicians will not allow them to do their jobs or protect themselves, so my advice to these fine women and men, stay home with your families. If the liberals want their towns looted and burned to the ground, oh stinking well!!!!!!!!
Raise the draw bridges....
Shut down the “L”.
All these "blue" cities don't seem very confident of a Biden victory.
I thought he was like 50 points ahead.
Plywood Forests Return
So downtown...and numerous other business corridors...have spent the last two days boarding up windows and doors, removing expensive merchandise and pretty much closing down this weekend. It’s almost embarrassing that it has come to this, but in the blue cities, this is what years of voting to excuse certain behaviors and taking it easy on crime have wrought.

A FReeper on a similar thread said the boarded-up stores are like a detour so the rioters can destroy the suburbs.
All the world is sitting there in front of their TV’s tomorrow, WAITING for the United States to explode and start the non-stop violence of killing, rape, looting, burning, you name it. Our enemies are waiting to catch us with our pants down. Our pants are unbuckled and unsnapped. We are close to that now.
And for electing baby-killers the voters deserve it.
They arent boarding up because they think Republicans are going to riot and loot and burn their stores. Just sayin.
This should be an issue why it isn’t puzzles me
Democratic candidate for Americas Vice President California Sen. Kamala Harris sponsored a Senate bill that would that would force funding public schools to allow biologically male athletes who identify as transgender on girls sports teams. :
. In March 2019, Harris cosponsored the Equality Act, which would amend the Civil Rights Act of 1964 . Among other things, the bill would force public schools to expand female athletic teams to include biological males who identify as transgender girls

HERES HOW THEY TREAT CONSERVATIVE CONGRESSIONAL DEMOCRATS WHO DONT SUPPORT FUNDING STUFF LIKE THIS
And why there is no such thing as a Conservative Catholic Dem in Congress An example is Illinois 3rd district using the 2020 dem primary Where they used remaps of the congressional district and the 2012 ward remap which displaced 33 precincts and placed the dem ward organization office in another ward.
That was done because;
Todays Democrats werent happy with Dan Lipinski’s funding votes against abortion and on being the only congressional democrat to vote NO to a House Bill similar to what Harris proposed on allowing men to to call themselves women and compete with women in college sports.
And in the reshaped 3rd Congressional district Daniel Lipinski lost because of redistricting. Of a district which had previously included adjacent Chicago city wards to his 23rd in his original 5th.congressional district
That was a district in the 1950known as the 5th which was a part of the third largest school district in the country run by the Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago. Those city wards were predominatly composed of dozens of traditional value family oriented Catholic/Christian communities centered around churches and their schools. Hence opposed to funding such things as abortion and LGBT activities rather that dealt exclusively with city issues such as a subway L service and the Stevenson Expressway. These Wards were reliable supporters of Dans father, William O Lipinski. But where many had areas with hispanic last names those areas were redistricted and assigned to the Louis Gutieriezs district. Where areas where buildings were abandoned affected by the no money down home mortgages or had changed because of this.
A ward such as the 14th run for 50 years by Edmund Burke now under corruption charges was remapped to include portions of other wards mainly the 23rd. Those results are posted below which actually tear up the concept of a neighborhood and pit people against each other by using division. In some of those wards areas of city blocks which were zoned exclusively for single family dwellings residents suddenly found their neighborhood having houses torn down and being replaced with multiple apartments with the units not required to furnish parking facilities and many renters were illegals. Much of which fit the plans for the suburbs

Every precinct I had worked for GOP in the 23rd and 12th and even the one I lived in is now in another ward

I think there would be more rioting if biden wins. Think Celebrations.
I I lived in one of those suburbs I’d have a 50 gallon barrel of oil ready to accidentally spill on the street.
Meanwhile...over at Huff and Puff, commenters are calling Trump a coward for putting up a fence around the WH.
chicago businesses taking precautions against rioting and looting by disappointed trump voters should biden win ...
Liberal hell holes are boarding up
Thats a GOOD SIGN !
do you think they would RIOT if SLEEPY JOE wins ?
No sirree!
Thus they must KNOW trump is going to BLOW JOE UP !
Plywood might stop some 8th graders, but not a gang of insane adults looking for something for nuthin.
