In 2016, I was not a Donald Trump fan. Id fully planned on writing in some joke name or whatever because, well, I didnt trust Trump. There was no way on Gods green earth I was ever going to vote for Hillary Clinton, and third parties are pathetic. I lived in Maryland, so I could justify it to myself as it not really mattering in the grand scheme of things Maryland is so blue it would vote for Stalin.
I also believed, as did most everyone else, that Clinton would win. In the primary, I was originally a Marco Rubio supporter, then a Ted Cruz fan as the field winnowed. I never dreamed this guy whose TV show Id been a fan of could do anything but humiliate himself and the party. I was wrong.
Before election day, I did some soul-searching. My wife was pregnant with our first child and I knew a Hillary Clinton presidency would be horrible for the country. Democrats had big plans to fundamentally transform the country, ruining much of what made the country the envy of the world in the name of progressive politics. What would I tell my child about life before, about the country before? And what would I tell them about what I did to try to stop it.
In a column that went viral, Id changed my mind. I knew I had to do everything I could, including voting for someone I didnt think would be a good president but was the only realistic alternative, to register my opposition to the damage to come.
I was as shocked as anyone when Donald Trump won.
After that, I thought it would be four years of working to mitigate the damage he would do, peppered with a few good things. I was wrong.
Three Supreme Court Justices, countless needless regulations repealed, tax cuts for everyone, unthinkably low unemployment, a booming economy, no new wars, Middle East peace deals, ISIS decimated, NAFTA gone, and American pride rising. I was very wrong.
Sure, there were tweets I wished werent sent, points that could have been made clearer or more directly Im not going to agree with anyone 100 percent of the time except me. But Donald Trump, quite simply, has been an excellent president of the United States.
Most surprisingly of all, and evident in his overall accomplishments, he was easily one of the most conservative presidents weve ever had. Whether it was, as some never Trumpers whine, all an act, I couldnt care less. Results matter, and the results are beyond dispute.
When it comes to 2020, were it not for coronavirus, President Trump would coast to victory. Democrats and the media would still have coordinated all their lies and attacks, but they wouldve been seen clearly as the pathetic character assassinations they are.
The fog of the pandemic has clouded everyones vision, empowering left wing lies. Joe Biden, Democrats, and the media gleefully accuse the president of being responsible for 200,000 deaths.
Its an easy attack, and a cheap shot. But when the media memory holes the fact that Dr. Deborah Birx said back in March that we would experience 200,000 deaths if we do things almost perfectly, as NBC News did, it makes it an even easier lie to tell.
These people, whod exploit the pain of loss of American families for their political advantage, sickly promising their loved ones would still be alive if only Democrats were in charge, deserve every ounce of scorn human beings can heap upon them.
Add to that the demonization of treatments, the belittling of vaccines, and the contempt for hope and Im left with only disgust. These people cannot be allowed anywhere near power.
So this time, I will vote against Democrats with just as much eagerness and even more urgency now that their party has moved even further to the left and embraced even crazier, anti-American values. The difference is, this time I will vote for Donald Trump with a level of enthusiasm I did not in 2016, with a level of enthusiasm with which Ive never voted for any other candidate before. The record is too good, the stakes too damn high, and the alternative too damn crazy and corrupt to do anything else.
Join me, and bring friends.
been praying this is so
I supported Cruz before and at the start of the primaries due to his obvious Christian constitutional conservative positions and track record of defending the Constitution. IMHO, he stood head and shoulders over Bush, Rubio, Kascich, Paul and other assorted GOPe RINOs, globalists, amnesty pushers, establishment hangers on and unknown newbies, etc. I didn't care much at all for Trump. Thought he was an untrustworthy chameleon and charlatan. Wrote him off completely.
And then I began watching his rallies and listening to him explain his positions. Build the wall, enforce the law, deport them all, end sanctuary cities, end anchor babies, slap a moratorium on Muslim immigration, cut taxes, cut spending, cut regulations, cut the government, make better trade deals, bring back manufacturing and jobs, dump the EPA and global warming, bring back coal, gas & oil, rebuild the military AND (as all the other Republican hopefuls pledged: REPEAL OBAMACARE!
Ok, so I'm impressed. The guy sounds like a Reagan conservative. But I'm still a Cruz guy. As I continue watching and listening to both and then start reading Trump's plans as he fleshes them out on his website, I get even more interested. His initial tax plan even out Reagan'd Reagan. He proposed cutting all taxes, but especially cutting the corporate tax to ZERO! Now that piqued my interest way up! What a boost to the economy and jobs that would be (unfortunately, cutting the corp tax rate to zero was later in the primary modified to 15%, I suspect after GOP bean counters got involved).
So now I have two favorites in the race. Cruz was my guy but I could be happy with Trump. If either of these guys won the primary, I'd back him to the hilt. Even thought it'd be great if they partnered up on the ticket.
And as the race progressed, it was impossible not to see that Trump was not only a great campaigner, and a great communicator, but he was also a great fighter and wasn't going to rollover for the establishment or the media. He takes his message straight to the people and does not apologize or back down.
One by one he knocks off anyone who attacks him, whether they be an opponent, a pundit, the GOP, the DEMs, the establishment or the media. We can't spare this man, he fights.
So it eventually gets down to Trump vs Cruz, but Trump is way ahead. Cruz has been holding off to this point, but now he has no choice. If he wants to win, Cruz has to take Trump head-on and the nasty battle begins. Again, Trump is the more aggressive campaigner and fighter and he pulls it out.
And the most aggressive campaigner and fighter is exactly what we needed to defeat Hillary and the democrats and the media AND the entire establishment ruling class of both major political parties.
His own party stood against him! Even FOX News and most of the so-called "conservative" media!
It was a miracle that Trump won. "He had no path to 270!" No one thought he could possibly make it. Coming down to the wire I think even Trump thought he'd lost. And then as the last handful of states were coming in, the network vote counters all agreed Trump had no path to a win. Then boom. Don't remember if it was Michigan or Wisconsin, but after Trump won whichever came in first, there was a long pregnant pause as the Network vote counters tried and tried, but couldn't calculate any clear path to 270 from the remaining states... for Hillary!
Trump won the presidency and America dodged a bullet!
Trump has proven himself worthy - in some ways better than Reagan -and yet he's again in the fight of his life. It is easy to vacillate between worry and calm about the outcome. I pray that on Nov 5, I will feel like how SamAdams76 posted how he felt after the 2016 elections (this is an all-time great):
I went to bed on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 like I had terminal cancer, and woke up on Wednesday, November 9 as it I was in full remission.
Good for you—and our (praying to God) FREE Republic!!!
I put it out on twitter and added that we found that a Billionaire had more in common with us than 99% of politicians.
Ping to an encouraging thread!
The town deal with the ballots so I will say no. We could hand deliver them to town hall. That is what we did.

Cannot do that election day. Town halls are closed.
I remember the spirited debates here in 2016. I was on board Trump train early on, but I honestly didn't think he could last through the primaries. But I really liked his style. I've been a loyal R voter since Reagan, and I had never heard anyone so directly challenge the problems I had with the Republican establishment. He wasn't playing along.
I could have lived with the other major Republican candidates, would certainly have voted for them in the general, but I don't think they would have won.
The man has changed politics in our party, and he has changed them in our country, both for the better.
I put my ballot in the ballot box, along with a mighty horde of other like-minded voters. I checked yesterday and it has been received but not counted because they won’t do that until Tuesday. I consider it in-person voting because the USPS isn’t touching it with their Biden-Harris-filty fingers.
You can go to trackmyballot.gov for your state and get the results now or on Tuesday.

I was just watching The Reubin Report and he listed off some who are voting Trump This year that didnt last election and they represent a following:
Glenn Beck
Ben Shapiro
Christin Peterson
Dave Reubin
Clay Travis
Then there is the #walkaway and Blexit movements.
You should check out #walkaway on FB. For many months, on a daily basis, many have been writing their Walkaway stories. Like this, They are so encouraging to read.

Does hand carrying the mailed out ballots back to county election headquarters count as voting in person?
We do and did it last week!
I dont think You have to have a fb account to click the link and read the testimonials.
Voted for Trump very enthusiastically in 2016, as I figured out he was trying to save the country for his grandchildren.
Any hint of a doubt was removed when he said out loud to Hillary during the debates, “Because you’d be in jail.”
Voted early with the legendary Mrs. Whiskers, straight GOP, to turn Minnesota cherry red this time.
PLEASE everyone stop comparing Trump and Ronald Reagan.
It’s an insult to a Great Man every time the “Trump is better” is mentioned.
It’s tacky and just not necessary.
This was a Great Man.
It was 40 years ago and this man brought down an empire.
They are 2 Great Presidents.
Why can’t it be left at that.
And there might not have been an America to save if not for The Great One.
It’s like villagers with pitchforks around here sometimes :)
How soon they forget..
Forget Everything that Reagan was up against.
Or did we all forget gas lines and crazy interest rates and disastrous rescue missions that didn’t even get off the ground and on and on and on.
Reagan and Trump are both great.
I have NO IDEA why So Many have to add “better than Reagan”...even if it’s qualified with a tepid “in some ways”
I don’t ask much. Please show respect to the Great Man and stop comparing them.
OK I’m done :)
This is the only part of the article I disagree with.
Even without the Chinese pandemic, I believe the race would be in the same state it is today.
Trump supporters are going to vote for the man NO MATTER WHAT.
Trump haters are going to vote for whoever the Dems put up against him - even if it is a senile, corrupt old man - NO MATTER WHAT.
Pandemic has near zero result on this election. I cannot imagine a single Trump supporter switching to Biden on account of a worldwide black swan event that nobody had any control over. As if Biden, who spent most of the year huddled in his basement with a mask on would have handled things better!
So no need to agonize over the "what could have been" had we not had the Chinese virus inflicted on us. The election results we will see Tuesday night will have essentially have had the same outcome. It's us against the haters.
I am optimistic that the good guys will prevail here. If we all turn out to vote, Trump will get a second term! Simple ass that.
