In 2016, I was not a Donald Trump fan. I’d fully planned on writing in some joke name or whatever because, well, I didn’t trust Trump. There was no way on God’s green earth I was ever going to vote for Hillary Clinton, and third parties are pathetic. I lived in Maryland, so I could justify it to myself as it not really mattering in the grand scheme of things – Maryland is so blue it would vote for Stalin.
I also believed, as did most everyone else, that Clinton would win. In the primary, I was originally a Marco Rubio supporter, then a Ted Cruz fan as the field winnowed. I never dreamed this guy whose TV show I’d been a fan of could do anything but humiliate himself and the party. I was wrong.
Before election day, I did some soul-searching. My wife was pregnant with our first child and I knew a Hillary Clinton presidency would be horrible for the country. Democrats had big plans to “fundamentally transform” the country, ruining much of what made the country the envy of the world in the name of “progressive” politics. What would I tell my child about life before, about the country before? And what would I tell them about what I did to try to stop it.
In a column that went viral, I’d changed my mind. I knew I had to do everything I could, including voting for someone I didn’t think would be a good president but was the only realistic alternative, to register my opposition to the damage to come.
I was as shocked as anyone when Donald Trump won.
After that, I thought it would be four years of working to mitigate the damage he would do, peppered with a few good things. I was wrong.
Three Supreme Court Justices, countless needless regulations repealed, tax cuts for everyone, unthinkably low unemployment, a booming economy, no new wars, Middle East peace deals, ISIS decimated, NAFTA gone, and American pride rising. I was very wrong.
Sure, there were tweets I wished weren’t sent, points that could have been made clearer or more directly – I’m not going to agree with anyone 100 percent of the time except me. But Donald Trump, quite simply, has been an excellent president of the United States.
Most surprisingly of all, and evident in his overall accomplishments, he was easily one of the most conservative presidents we’ve ever had. Whether it was, as some never Trumpers whine, all an act, I couldn’t care less. Results matter, and the results are beyond dispute.
When it comes to 2020, were it not for coronavirus, President Trump would coast to victory. Democrats and the media would still have coordinated all their lies and attacks, but they would’ve been seen clearly as the pathetic character assassinations they are.
The fog of the pandemic has clouded everyone’s vision, empowering left wing lies. Joe Biden, Democrats, and the media gleefully accuse the president of being responsible for 200,000 deaths.
It’s an easy attack, and a cheap shot. But when the media memory holes the fact that Dr. Deborah Birx said back in March that we would experience 200,000 deaths “if we do things almost perfectly,” as NBC News did, it makes it an even easier lie to tell.
These people, who’d exploit the pain of loss of American families for their political advantage, sickly promising their loved ones would still be alive if only Democrats were in charge, deserve every ounce of scorn human beings can heap upon them.
Add to that the demonization of treatments, the belittling of vaccines, and the contempt for hope and I’m left with only disgust. These people cannot be allowed anywhere near power.
So this time, I will vote against Democrats with just as much eagerness and even more urgency now that their party has moved even further to the left and embraced even crazier, anti-American values. The difference is, this time I will vote for Donald Trump with a level of enthusiasm I did not in 2016, with a level of enthusiasm with which I’ve never voted for any other candidate before. The record is too good, the stakes too damn high, and the alternative too damn crazy and corrupt to do anything else.

In 2016, I voted against the Hildabeast.
In 2020, I’m voting for Donald Trump.
I wasn’t first in line for early voting but I was #347 at my polling place, according to the ballot counter machine.
My son who never votes went and pulled the lever for TRUMP.
Its just that important to him and to a lot of people who have seen the leftist fascists and know we have to stop them.
True dat.
Trump has been transitional. He has succeeded beyond my wildest dreams in turning the ship back from the precipice against all odds with Democrats, judges, media, elites, never Trumpers and globalists throughout the world all aligned against him. Simply put, he is historic.
I will be honest as I usually am on here for better or worse.
Voting is usually an annoying duty to me.
Standing in line. Finding a parking spot. Got a few parking tickets a few times :-)
And for a dozen years now I’ve been able to do mail in because I was on SSDI for one year but they send you mail in ballots for 20 years. No I have no idea why.
But I’m going in person. I’m bringing a friend and four elders in my family to vote because of that same reason of not trusting the mail ins.
I was too young to vote for the Great One in the ‘80s and this is the first time I am very excited about voting.
I can’t wait.
As a matter of fact I had to fight with myself because there were things that he said that I disagreed with.
But then one day before the Nomination was due to come he said the right thing which convinced me to vote for him, and I will vote for him again on Tuesday.
Also I will be strictly vote Republican as I always do anyways.

But your post is what is happening everywhere. I am hopeful it IS a red wave building to wash dumblecrat scum away for at least a couple years...
I hope the coat tails are long...here in NC we have got to be rid of Royboy Cooper...I am not sure that is going to happen but we will keep Tillis and I hope add some conservatives to the supreme court.

I was 100% in for Trump — around 1990. That was when I read, “The Art Of The Deal”. He was bold and effective in business, so please bring that to government!!
On Escalator Day, I was thrilled — the first in our group to be on board. My sister followed later, then my husband, then my BIL. We all voted FOR Trump in 2016.
Everyone I know that is voting for Trump is voting in person. I get all my news from Free republic too :-)
But I have 42 first cousins and 20 aunts and uncles and a bunch of nephews and nieces and friends and nobody voted by mail.
And out of those 80 or 90 people, one is a democrat. Of course he happens to be my favorite nephew. He just had a child last year so maybe that will change him.
But so many Republicans voting on election day means we have to look out for these antifa and BLM people. Cuz this is the only shot we get.
Same with me and my wife. That is two more votes.
About Derek Hunter, I will have to think about forgiving him for those “tweets” he claims he is sorry he sent.
It’s one thing to disagree with President Trump, but he was not nice about it.
I have a 30 something year old neighbor that has never voted or been in church. Yesterday he couldn’t wait to show me his sunburn from attending a Trump rally in Tampa and he is talking about God’s hand of protection on our president. We’re seeing a true revival.
Derek Hunter used to do a podcast for The Daily Caller. I heard it a bit but the DC has changed format. I don’t know this guy well.
Seems per The Daily Beast, untrusted source, Derek resigned from The Daily Caller this June.
When the Indiana primary came around in May of 2016, the only choices left on the Republican side were Cruz and Trump. I wasn’t sure if Cruz was really eligible. I liked both candidates some.
In a rare event, I actually flipped a coin 3 times. Each time it came up for Cruz. However, when I got to the booth, I still had a nagging feeling that I couldn’t pull the trigger for him. I don’t remember what it was exactly about Trump, something he said or did, but I went with this gut instinct and pushed the button for Donald J Trump.
I remember feeling hopeful. President Trump hasn’t let me down in any significant way. I’ve got his back because I feel confident that he has mine. Can anyone who votes for Biden really say the same thing about him? They only vote for him because he’s not Trump, but Biden isn’t a speck of the man Trump is, and in their heart of hearts, they all know it.
You can go back through my posts, circa 2016, and see that not only was I against Trump being the nominee, but thought those who pulled him over the line in the primaries were setting us up for a fall. I was a Rubio guy, then on to Cruz
Hindsight. I don’t think Rubio could have won against Hillary. Trump is the only one who was bombastic enough to rattle her cage, and harshly point out her flaws. It’s something I don’t think Rubio is suited for. Rubio never would have said “You’d be in jail!” during a debate. Only Trump.
I voted for Trump in ‘16 but I thought it was pointless. I was sold that the polls were crap, but couldn’t be that far off... As Trump would say... Wrong!
Well, I voted for Trump again. In person. In Arizona, which we badly need to get over the line, and keep the state on the redder side of purple. This time, when I filled that circle in for Donald J Trump... Well, to paraphrase Michael Moore - “It felt good!” I made sure that circle was completely blackened in, pressing just a bit harder than usual writing. Voted Republican straight down the line.
Oh, I did vote for Marijuana though .. Not because I agree with the idiots behind the Proposition - Mostly lefties, but my vote isn’t so they can all get high. My vote is to deny the Mexican cartels a source of income, and give those towns on the border a break from the violence. It’s a start.
