In the Greek alphabet, Omega is the final letter.

No, actually I moved down here in 2004 from Virginia, but then went back to Virginia to work on a contract. I decided to leave a month early because I was missing the wife. About 3 days after I got home I received an email asking me if I would consider a job in New Orleans which is about 90 miles south of where I live. I debated whether I should even respond, but then I finally did, and as fate goes I was offered the job. Then Katrina hit after working there for 19 days, I thought to myself, well that was the shortest contract I have ever had. 8>) Ended up working there until 2017. Then a year later I got a call and they asked if I was interested in coming back. Finally retired for good in July this year. First we got hit with a ransomware attack, and then after we rebuilt everything, servers etc,, the Chinese virus occurred. That caused the city to start having budget problems, so I offered to go to save them money. 8>)
Virginia had maybe 2 hurricanes that hit in the 40 years I lived there. That and maybe a couple of tornadoes that I remember. The snowstorms were fun when I was younger but they became less enthralling the older I got. So we decided to move down to be around to assist my father-in-law who is now 96 and I think he may outlive me. I wanted a warmer climate as I was tired of the cold winters. 8>)

Oh yeah, and as luck has it there is usually a Republican in the White House. Go figure huh. 8>)

Yeah that’s it. Believe it or not we are still rebuilding Big Pine Key years later. Some of it will remain in ruins.ANd we have good building codes, buped up recently to withstand 180 mph winds up from 150.

I guess storms are one of the last vestiges of equal opportunity non political entities left.

You know how they retire hurricane names if they’re real deadly candy destructive. How can they retire Zeta?

The center of the 'cone' presently shows it landing about the Pearl River/Slidell, La. area. Right at the Louisiana/Mississippi state line.
Good luck to all.
Maybe it's late enough/cool enough in the year to reduce intensity.

Thanks for getting us together early --again!
The windflow displays show that Zeta still has an oval or teardrop shape. IOW, full, circular cyclonic flow hasn't yet developed. "Earth" shows the teardrop clearly...
https://earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/isobaric/1000hPa/equirectangular=-87.32,23.22,3000/loc=-85.678,23.044
... and "Windy" shows Zeta as an oval at the surface, and poorly developed at higher altitudes.
https://www.windy.com/?23.342,-91.121,6
And neither shows the entire-Gulf CCW circulation that we saw with Delta.
Temps are also lower -- so, perhaps, Zeta will have less energy available for hurricane development...
