October 15Preach or Plow?
From [Christ] the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
Ephesians 4:16According to the family legend, two brothers, one named Billy and the other Melvin, were standing on the familys dairy farm one day when they saw an airplane doing some skywriting. The boys watched as the plane sketched out the letters GP overhead.
Both brothers decided that what they saw had meaning for them. One thought it meant Go preach. The other read it as Go plow. Later, one of the boys, Billy Graham, dedicated himself to preaching the gospel, becoming an icon of evangelism. His brother Melvin went on to faithfully run the family dairy farm for many years.
Skywriting signs aside, if God did call Billy to preach and Melvin to plow, as seems to be the case, they both honored God through their vocations. While Billy had a long preaching career, his success doesnt mean that his brothers obedience to his calling to plow was any less important.
While God does assign some to be in what we call full-time ministry (Ephesians 4:1112), that doesnt mean those in other jobs and roles arent doing something just as important. In either case, as Paul said, each part [should do] its work (v. 16). That means honoring Jesus by faithfully using the gifts Hes given us. When we do, whether we go preach or go plow, we can make a difference for Jesus wherever we serve or work.
By: Dave Branon Reflect & Pray
How can you use your gifts to honor God in your vocation? How can you encourage others you know so they too can use their calling as a way to serve Jesus?
Help me, God, to be used right where You put me. Help me to see that my words, actions, and work ethic can profoundly affect others.

Hey there, radu...LOTS of exciting news to read this evening.
Maybe, just maybe, something will actually happen!
Guess what? It’s raining a bit, but still in the low 40s.
Any idea when the cotton harvest will begin?

Snow in October? Been there, done that in 2011...right before Halloween.
I was just thinking about that this afternoon while looking at what has become a grove of bamboo spread from five plants which I planted the day before “the Halloween snow”. Put those rascals on a steep bank which was getting too dangerous for tractor mowing...problem solved!

Howdy, Kathy!
Had a great time at the polling station with the “R” women’s group so I didn’t get to read any news all day and have been slowly catching up tonight. Also listening to Trump’s speech this afternoon.
I didn’t check the cam up there first so didn’t know you were getting some rain. WOOHOO for that!
It was almost hot here today with nary a cloud in the sky. Tomorrow is supposed to be a repeat, then we’ll have a brisk Friday.
The cotton is close to being ready to harvest. They were here yesterday spot-spraying the fields with Round-Up to kill the few plants that still have green leaves.
We’re ready for the cotton to BE GONE! A horrible crop to be surrounded by when you suffer from allergies.

A very pleasant good Thursday morning and ((HUGS)) to everyone at the Canteen and to all our military at home and abroad. Thanks for your service to our country.
It's about to get windy here this morning. We have a cold front coming through. It was a little windy yesterday too. Pics from Wichita Ridge yesterday.
,/img>
We also found the rabies tag we lost at the park last week.
So, how's everyone doing this morning?

WOOHOO! You found Gizmo’s rabies tag! Put it away somewhere safe in case he loses the replacement tag you got.
We’re getting your cold front in about 24 hours from what they said on the weather report. It’s supposed to be pretty windy on the backside of it so you two will probably have a brisk outing later today.
