Well, Chuck Schumer Probably Just Picked Up a Senate Seat...in 2022 (Unless we find a great candidate in PA)

PA has Casey and Toomey. They are both absolutely worthless irregardless of party affiliation. I have zero confidence the PAGOP can get a decent candidate in two years.

Lou Barletta was an ideal "Trump" candidate in 2018. He was the first GOP House member to endorse Trump in 2016. And he wasn't highly regarded by a lot of conservative groups like the ACU that rate these elected officials over the years -- which meant he was a good fit for a state like PA where Democrats outnumber Republicans among registered voters.

He got his ass kicked in the 2018 Senate race against Bob Casey Jr. I never got any sense that the guy had any energy or enthusiasm behind him.

The Pennsylvania GOP really needs to get its act together and work hard to cultivate the best candidates for these races.

Being Trump endorsed would help. But has to be someone with name recognition.

Republicans lose when/because they act like democrats. Either because they are, or because they think by appealing to ‘moderates’ the can capture the oh-so-important ‘undecided’ voter. Most of these are undecided because they’re:

1 - not paying attention
2 - not very intelligent
3 - the Republican candidate is some meely-mouthed squish barely distinguishable from the demhole

Grow a pair, run as a proud, unabashed Republican - or better yet a solid, bona-fide Conservative and give the voters an actual choice.

Because the number of ‘moderate/undecided’ voters will almost always be less than the number of actual republican/conservative voters that will stay home in disagust or vote for a 3rd party candidatd with zero chance of wiunning….

just sayin’

Turncoat Sen Arlen Specter's party betrayal was engineered by the smooth talking, ever-grinning Joe Biden.

Later, Specter complained that Biden sucked-up bigtime to get him to turn. But after he turned, Biden completely ignored him.

I’m concerned about 2020.
We will deal with 2022 when it comes.

Not going to miss an “R” Senator who was willing to sign on to 2A restrictions...time to belly up to the bar with a conservative candidate...it really works...the Republicans should try it.

Best thing I could say for Toomey was that he is not the ambulatory vegetable that Bob Casey is.

Why not fret about this in a month or so? If Trump doesn’t win I could care less who replaces this bag of shite.

If sleepy joe wins 2022 will be a Dem bloodbath. They will overreach and piss everyone off. Problem is we may not survive that 2 year period.

The cynic in my says that Toomey announced his future retirement right now for a reason. The closest thing would be the SCOTUS vote. So perhaps he plans to vote NO and is letting everyone know now that he doesn't care if it hurts him politically.

Which would probably mean that one arrow in Pelosi's quiver was buying a GOP senator or two.

If sleepy joe wins 2022 ...

... their first move will be to ensure that there is never another election they cannot rig. Then they don't have to care about voter outrage ever again.

PA would have two Republican senators and a Republican governor today if the state GOP actually wanted to win elections, but they don’t. They want to keep pro-Trump candidates from overtaking the party and keeping chamber of Commerce candidates in charge. Republicans in PA have to get through this election, then double down the efforts for a year or so to work on reshaping the state of the PA GOP into a party that stops ceding ground in Philly and the suburbs, fields and supports candidates in more districts and actually fights in the legislature rather than sit back and collect all that sweet per diem money.

“The GOP in this state has historically done an absolutely TERRIBLE job with candidate selection.”
Right you are. The last Republican candidate for governor in Pennsylvania was a high school graduate who owned garbage trucks. He was terrible in debates. I can’t even remember his name. Mike Wagner or something? He had been in state government for awhile but certainly wasn’t the best pick to head the Republican ticket.

And look at that loser Tom Ridge. He’s endorsing Biden and he’s a Republican (or maybe used to be.)

Conservatives don’t want to get their hands dirty and run for office.
