Breathe easy. A new study suggests that surgical face masks dont cause a buildup of carbon dioxide or restrict oxygen, despite opposing claims. The study, on the Effect of Face Masks on Gas Exchange in Healthy Persons and Patients with COPD, which was published in the Annals of the American Thoracic Society on Friday, was conducted after a group of Florida residents challenged Floridas mask-wearing mandate in June, arguing that wearing the protective face coverings could result in the buildup of too much carbon dioxide.

"I knew that. If Im in public my mask is on."
That's good. I only wear a mask in some public circumstances: in buildings with much human traffic or smaller spaces with no ventilation. For example, in a business with an outside door open, only two other people present and only a few people in and out in a day, I don't bother.
Cases have been increasing in my locale quite a bit. A young woman in a bank in town became ill and tested positive a couple days after I was there. The bank closed and will reopen soon. Someone in the nearby Walmart also had symptoms and tested positive a few weeks ago. No word on either of them so far.

I’ll tell my brain that the feeling of dizziness is a figment of my imagination.
Do I believe this study or my lying brain.

Ha! They most certainly do restrict oxygen.

I can’t only wear a mask for a few minutes before it makes me sick.

“Medical workers dont wear them all day, everywhere - just in certain patient contact situations. “

Even if that were the case, you’d still have thousands of surgeons and their OR staff dropping dead daily. Surgery can take many hours and the those in the OR are required to wear masks. For such persons, it’s 8 hours (usually much more) a day work, 5 days a week.
This isn’t to say anything if masks are helpful or not in the covid situation, that’s a whole different question.
Just that, experientially and logically, we’ve had a century of experience of people wearing masks for prolonged periods of time through the years without mass causalities occurring. It’s not a hypothetical.

It was always a ridiculous claim, gee masks have been around since Civil War. Interesting psychologically how many fell for the myth...

I’m 65 with seasonal asthma so my doctor has me wear one every flu season in crowds anyway. The way I see it, anything is 100% better than nothing in crowds. They aren’t perfect but better than nothing. You have to do all the other precautions too. Even bronchitis can make my asthma deadly so I try to avoid the flu and any other respiratory virus.
My 24-year old granddaughter is a physical therapy assistant in Chattanooga. She has been tested and quarantined three times but so far has been negative. My town is rural and not so bad but the big cities are bad.

Multiple mask studies must be going on. So as with polls, we have to question if the corrupt media, including FN, is bragging about the results of one study that fits their narrative.
Based on people saying that they are more tired after a day of work wearing a mask, my non-medical guess about negative effects of using a mask is that it obstructs the flow of air, having the effect of working at a higher altitude.
Corrections, insights welcome.

When I was wearing one at work, Im an RN, I did my own oxygen saturation and my usual is 97% or 98%. With the mask on they were 86% and I did this on many occasions."
Cool! Did you immediately intubate yourself?
The How, What and Why of EMS Pulse Oximetry Journal of Emergency Medical Services
Issue 5 and Volume 42.

[Excerpt:]
"The patient was pretty sick as best I can remember. I took a report from the nurse and the doctor came up to me and said he was sending this patient with a machine called a 'pulse ox.'
'What does it do?' I asked. 'It measures their oxygen levels,' he responded.
'If the oxygen saturation drops below 90%, then you should intubate them immediately.'"

They don’t wear them all day everyday. They are also for bacteria (far larger particles) not for viruses. Virus will pass through even the best masks and not even slow down. The nonsense needs to end.

They won’t drop dead from wearing masks, but their panic attacks might make them think that they’re dying. ;)

Did the article say we should just wear them all the time whether a virus is extant or not? It seems like that’s the end game here.
