Gov. Andrew Cuomo suggested Tuesday that the state could send in the National Guard to help clean up piles of garbage that have mounted in some New York City neighborhoods during the pandemic.
"I don't know what's going on in New York City," the governor said in a news conference Tuesday afternoon. "If they can't do it, I have offered to send in the National Guard to come help pick up the garbage. The state can bring in trucks, personnel and clean up the city."
Complaints of trash pileups have been reported citywide over the summer, coinciding with a $106 million cut to the Department of Sanitation's budget, forcing the city to reduce the frequency of garbage collection, as well as an increase in New Yorkers working from home, producing more garbage in residential neighborhoods.

OMG!! ALL DEMOCRATS ARE VILE EVIL VICIOUS LYING DESTROYERS OF GOOD PEOPLE AND GOOD THINGS.
Leftist always misuse the military.
Defund the trashman!
NYC defunded the trash collectors??
Is it any wonder the NYS Police and all the national guard are openly or tacitly endorsing Trump.
“coinciding with a $106 million cut to the Department of Sanitation’s budget”
What did they expect to happen?
Pick it up yourself, you murdering bastrad!
Chain gangs used to do that kind of work. Wait, they have been released.
Maybe they should contact some New Jersey waste disposal experts.
Get a shovel you stoopid Dego and clean it up yourself. No offense to Degos.
I wonder what National Guard personnel would think about being taken away from their jobs and businesses to perform routine sanitation tasks that just about every other city in the country takes care of on their own.
This is ammo Trump can use during the debates.
It’s pretty obvious some cities have reached the deflection point in their survivability. Once any organism gets too large to eliminate its waste, it stops growing and begins to decline. New York City appears to have reached that point some time ago, and only built a wall of tax money around itself to keep the forces of nature from taking over.

“”I don’t know what’s going on in New York City,” the governor said”
Yes he does!
I’m guessing this is a continuation of the friction between Cuomo & deBlasio
