A small majority of Americans support President Trump and the Senate moving ahead to fill the Supreme Court vacancy just over a month before the election, according to a new poll.
The latest Harvard CAPS/Harris poll finds that 53 percent say Trump is right to put forward a nominee for the Supreme Court without delay, including 51 percent of independents. In addition, 53 percent of voters say the Senate should consider the nominee right now.
The poll was conducted before Trump nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
The survey found that 51 percent of voters want a Supreme Court nominee who will affirm the right to have an abortion, while 26 percent want a justice who will overturn Roe v. Wade the landmark 1973 Supreme Court ruling that cleared the way for abortion access nationwide and 23 percent say it is not an important issue to them.
When voters are told that Democrats have considered retaliating against the nomination by adding justices or granting statehood to Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, 38 percent said that makes them less likely to vote for Democrats, 36 percent more likely and 27 percent said it would have no effect. Forty-three percent of independents said it made them more likely to vote for Democrats, 33 percent said no effect and 23 percent said less likely.
When voters are told that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) blocked former President Obamas nominee to the Supreme Court because it was an election year in 2016, 39 percent said it made them less likely to vote for Republicans, 32 percent said no effect and 29 percent said it made them more likely to vote GOP.

It has to be filled before it tips over or the Dems tip over ,LOL
“a small majority” — no bias there.
...so...Majority...
A “small majority” in the face of overwhelming propaganda put out by the Progressive media is an overwhelming majority in realilty.
A small majority. Im sure theyre opposed by a large minority.
Imagine if it was Obama filling a vacancy at %53...the headline will be “Vast Majority support......”
I’m sick of these polls to shape public opinion, it really is ridiculous.
nah, I think they would have gone with “Strong”
Or Obama dismisses polls as he exemplifies what true leadership is all about.
a small majority no bias there.”
None at all since a “small majority” isn’t REALLY a majority at all because Trump is bad...or something.
This is much more like an honest Presidential and party preference poll with a more benign question being asked. This is great news.
“Small” MAJORITY?
50 + 1 = majority.
The result is exactly the same as 100 + 0.
WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT Amy Coney Barrett!
ACB not to be confused with RBG or AOC.
[[[Imagine if it was Obama filling a vacancy at %53...the headline will be Vast Majority support......]]]
It would be a “mandate” to fill the seat. LOL
WOuld at a minimum say “Most Americans”
I agree. I find the majority of polls anymore try to be persuasive rather than predictive.
The Constitution is not poll driven. Fill the seat.
Agreed.
Hey, I got a question for you since you won’t accuse me of being a troll.
I am quite confident Trump will win but rasmussen had him at 53 percent approval at one point last week and now 47 today.
I thought they had a rolling average and the tax returns news is new and also I thought no one would care about it.
I still think he’ll win.
But any idea why it might have dipped this week?
Thanks and hope you are well.
When Hillary Clinton won 48.2% of the popular vote in 2016, wasn't that supposed to be a "big majority"??????
I would have to dig into all the specifics to prepare an opinion. I am not willing to do all that work for an ephemeral product.
