Some Cleveland businesses aren't taking any chances ahead of Tuesday's first presidential debate and have started boarding up storefronts and offices over concerns of possible unrest coupled with a contentious election season.
President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden are set to square off at the Health Education Campus at Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Clinic in the first of three debates before the Nov. 3 election.
Griffin represents Ward 6, the Fairfax neighborhood where the event will be held. Given the unrest that has gripped the country in recent months, it has some businesses in the area on alert and taking precautions. Officials at the United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Cleveland, which sits across the street from the Cleveland Clinic, have raised concerns.
"We have been assured that our building will be protected, CEO Patricia Otter told WKYC-TV. But we are very worried about vandalism.

Early Monday, we met the first out-of-town protesters on the ground and saw the first protest in the air: a plane carrying a banner with a political message.
Meantime, we also met a homeowner going to a hotel with his wife just in case the debate crowd erupts into rioting. Doug Gray lives a stones throw from the site of the debate. But, he and his wife worry about chaos in the streets even with the Ohio National Guard helping police to patrol.
No, I dont want to take the chance. Ive seen what theyve done on TV in other cities. So, no, no way, Gray said.
Among the first protestors to roll in from out-of-state was Tom Moran, a school bus driver from Michigan. He said hes out of work and he blames President Donald Trump for not doing more to control the spread of the coronavirus.
Im out of a job now because theres no in-person school because Trump failed us, he said. The debates gonna be here. The candidates will be here. The focus is here.
Oh?
Just HOW did this occur?
They did not say:
Some Rioters,
Some Arsonists,
Some Anarchists Terrorists,
Some Antifa Terrorists,
Some BLM Terrorist,
Some Black Block Terrorists.
Remember Omar said "some people did something" to describe the 9/11 Islamist Terrorist Attack.
Don't worry. Joe's handlers will make sure that you'll get PLENTY of control when THEY take over!
I think you misstated, shouldn’t that read “you’ll be plenty controlled when Joe’s handlers take over”? LOL
I still can’t believe the debate is going to happen.
Quick, start a national emergency...

Isnt it illegal to cross state lines to foment unrest?
A smart rioter (I know, I know ... no such thing) would know to avoid any building where the boards have ‘+’ shaped cutouts in the wood. Hint: it doesn’t mean there are Christians inside ... it means the person inside holding a rifle has good range of motion for targeting.
Here in NJ the teachers’ unions (Dem funding sources) are refusing to return to school; if this guy thinks a Dem in the White House will re-open the schools he’s naïve. The teachers will get 10% raises, classes will end every year just before “Juneteenth”, and schools will remain shuttered.
Lock and load!
Years ago, the mafia was quite big in Cleveland. The National Guard wouldn’t have needed to be called in to keep the peace.
Mostly peaceful protests are gearing up to burn Cleveland to the ground. Because.. that’s what Democrat/Communists do.
Paid Agitator? my bet is YES.
Tom Moran did, too.
Standing up the hill, just across an access road from the park, the Fenton, Michigan, man let an over-sized banner offer his thoughts on the pandemic.
200,000 DEAD, it read. Trump FAILED US.
Moran, 65, said he lost his job working as a bus driver for a Michigan public school because of shutdowns this fall, which he said could have been prevented if Trump took the virus more seriously in January.
Moran said he started attending rallies in his home state earlier this month and decided to continue spreading his message.
We cant be intimidated, Moran said.
Some rally attendees tried to provoke the man, calling the virus a scam or accusing him of ignoring other national issues.
At one point prior to the rally, city police had to escort a Trump supporter away from Moran after he attempted to knock the banner from his hands.
Johnstowns interim police Chief Chad Miller made the man identify himself and advised him to leave Moran alone after talking to both men. The situation was defused within moments without incident or arrests.
Tom Moran, the protester, said he traveled the 380-some miles from his home in Fenton, Michigan to make his opinion known.
Theres no school because Trump mismanaged the virus, Moran said, noting that hes an out-of-work bus driver. Pennsylvania is gonna be key (to the election) so Im doing what I can.

We spoke to Tom Moran from downstate who drove all the way up to Traverse City to protest Pences visit. Pence In Nmi Live Vo 5.transfer
Tom used to be a bus driver for Fenton Schools in Genesee County.
He says because of the COVID-19 outbreak hes currently out of a job.
Tom says he protested because he believes President Trump has failed to contain the virus.
After sitting out for an hour, the Traverse City Police Department asked him to leave.
Im not causing any trouble. Im staying out of the way. But its still a free country. I mean if you dont like Donald Trump youre allowed to go to events and if you dont like Joe Biden, same thing, said Moran.
Traverse City Police say that he wasnt allowed to be protesting on city property at the entrance of the airport.
Tom Moran, 64, traveled from his home in Fenton to attend the protest. He said hes worried that Trump and Republicans will attempt to cut Medicare to reduce future budget deficits.
If you dont stick up for yourself and you dont get out and vote, bad things can happen, said Moran, a school bus driver who held a sign with the slogan, Trump sold us out.
Trump Jr.s speech included little about the pandemic.
I believe strongly we need to show support for the moderate Democrats that are putting country before party, said Tom Moran, a school bus driver who showed up to Mondays town hall with a giant hand-painted canvas banner that said the congresswoman commands our respect.

Tom Moran, Fenton area school bus driver and Joe Biden voter, said he thinks the divide between Sanders and Biden has been overblown. He came to Sundays rally at Calder Plaza to remind Sanders supporters the two sides must unite.
NOW, I am wondering if retired bus driver “Tom Moran” has a press agent? Which ComDem payroll is he on. He has said he was “layed off”? Wonder why he is spending his social security check to travel 400 miles to be a pain in the rear?
Tom's Democrat governor closed the schools and put him out of work...and he blames PDJT!
Tom is either a propaganda sponge or a Democrat, Union shill.
You decide.
Trump should mention this “Funny how no businesses have to be boarded up and no national giard need to be called out when Republicans riot. You know why? Because Republicans don’t riot.....yet! When and if we do, democrats wont riot again.”
I do believe the statues on some buildings still are able to turn around and are actually able to shoot!
Toward this end, the Cleveland facilitys fortress-like structure includes hidden gun ports and observation windows and slots for sharpshooters under the third step of the main entrance. It also is purported that small artillery cannons or revolving gun turrets are hidden beneath the base of the statues at the buildings entrance. https://clevelandhistorical.org/items/show/310
