Imagine: Its midnight, and the electoral map looks quite red. But news networks and election officials aren't calling the swing states, as this years record numbers of mail-in and absentee ballots have yet to be fully counted. Mr. Trump, leading in the popular vote, decides hes seen enough. He takes to his social media platforms and declares that he has won re-election and will accept no other result. He tells his tens of millions of followers that the Democrats and the press will try to change the result and steal the election. The door to unrest and constitutional crisis swings wide open.
Facebook, Twitter and YouTube have all pledged to crack down on misinformation around voting and electoral outcomes. Perhaps in the above scenario they append a label to the presidents posts saying that the information is disputed and that the results are not in. They could introduce friction into the algorithms to slow the reach of the posts.
But pro-Trump lawmakers and pundits most likely would have picked up the argument by then, amplifying the presidents message. What started as one prominent piece of voter disinformation easily could become widespread in the Republican Party and among a large segment of Americans. What would the platforms do then?

I get it - everything is the Republicans fault. Nothing is Democrats fault.
Sheesh. I really picked the wrong party. And the wrong skin color. And the wrong sex. And the wrong sexual orientation.
Im a straight white male Republican. I never get to be politically correct about anything. Ever.
Wouldnt it be fun to have our side be politically correct for ten minutes!
Job one for Americans will be to take care of the DNC partisan media shills.
At the state level, each state needs to keep track of the raw number of absentee ballots received by Nov. 3. If the margin of victory from poll booth voting is greater than the number of received absentee ballots, then you know who won the state. Some states are apparently going to accept absentee ballots postmarked by Nov. 3, but may be received later. This adds some complications, but the number of votes of this kind will be very small.
So, states should be able to avoid this election night chaos by 1. knowing how many absentee ballots have been received, 2. counting those ballots (Trump v. Biden) as they receive them, so they actually know the number of votes for each candidate.
All this Trump won't concede is setting up the narrative so that when Trump wins big on election night, they can immediately start demanding he accept a non-existent Biden victory. While the media backs the Dems, they will encourage rioting and continue to manufacture votes for Joe Biden right into the new year.
"TRUMP WINS REELECTION! REFUSES TO CONCEDE!"
Fix Bayonets!
Yes. Funny how they do this type of thing.
Why, the previous opponent, in the last presidential election even, apparently, made a statement something like: "If that *%!*@$&*% wins, we're all going to hang!"
Whyever would they think they were going to hang, if that !#%$"*@! won?
Odd.
Perhaps some enterprising *journalist could look into this, as it might explain a lot of things?

As if Trumps twitter account will even be working Election Day....
Everyone keeps missing an objective statistical fact: there is a point, as votes roll in, where Trump will, in mathematical fact, win.
Each precinct has only so many voters, each state has only so many precincts, comes a point where the winner gets 270 electors - and no amount of delayed votes can reverse that.
Progressives will scream all votes matter, unable to comprehend this isnt a popular-vote race. Nonetheless, once 270 is achieved, its over.
IOW, if he tells the TRUTH!
Notice that the setup of the lead here is that the news media intentionally avoid calling the election for Trump because that will “delegitimize” his claims to have won.
Nixon and his wife thought the 1960 election was stolen from then in IL, MO, and TX. Maurice Stans quickly raised the funds to contest the outcomes in those three states, but Nixon assumed that Democrat counters in each would rule the day.
Does anyone who is not a conservative believe this? It seems that the betting markets are factoring in a Biden win (54-45 odds), and Wall St. has signaled it is ok with a B/H administration.
Liberals haven’t learned their lesson from 2016, if they are THAT confident that Trump won’t win again.
They may have a plan that includes an untold number of "provisional votes". Unregistered voters, in CA anyway, can cast a "provisional ballot" if they aren't listed on the voter rolls. Under some circumstance, these are counted. Should that occur, the number of pre-election registered voters no longer limits the outcome.
The talk of this by the Left is them simply setting the stage and getting the stupid all riled up. Tomorrow, both need to be asked “If the Election Night results are MASSIVELY in favor of one or the other, will you accept the results?”
No one has asked Biden the question they asked Trump.
But those provisional votes still face a statistical limit. Everybody assumes CA will go blue, and - as Hillary realized far too late - more votes in an already-won state mean nothing.
Yeah they might be able to turn it into a mud fight. Im noting thatsa big enough Trump margin in the right areas mean an objective outright win, and looks like hell manage to get it.
That is because, thinking rationally, dispassionately, and apolitically, it is a more relevant question for the incumbent who controls all the levers of power. Not for a challenger.
Oh great. What a mess I made of that one.
The first one. :)
