Imagine: Its midnight, and the electoral map looks quite red. But news networks and election officials aren't calling the swing states, as this years record numbers of mail-in and absentee ballots have yet to be fully counted. Mr. Trump, leading in the popular vote, decides hes seen enough. He takes to his social media platforms and declares that he has won re-election and will accept no other result. He tells his tens of millions of followers that the Democrats and the press will try to change the result and steal the election. The door to unrest and constitutional crisis swings wide open.
Facebook, Twitter and YouTube have all pledged to crack down on misinformation around voting and electoral outcomes. Perhaps in the above scenario they append a label to the presidents posts saying that the information is disputed and that the results are not in. They could introduce friction into the algorithms to slow the reach of the posts.
But pro-Trump lawmakers and pundits most likely would have picked up the argument by then, amplifying the presidents message. What started as one prominent piece of voter disinformation easily could become widespread in the Republican Party and among a large segment of Americans. What would the platforms do then?

Good plan!
“Facebook, Twitter and YouTube have all pledged to crack down on.....anything that interferes with the Democrat Party’s post-election plans.
This scenario is making the rounds furiously everywhere. Wall St. firms are sending out caution advisory notes to their clients that “Trump’s refusal to leave when he loses” creates a massive element of uncertainty.
Just the same if Joe won’t concede that he lost
obviously in our system of government, only the media can tell us who won the election
I wish the President would haven’t fallen for that setup question and dignified it with a response.
The NYT lies.
The NYT employs racists.
The NYT fired someone because he published a Tom Cotton interview.
The NYT is a fraud and is just a bunch of Brian Stelter.
>>Facebook, Twitter and YouTube have all pledged to crack down on misinformation around voting and electoral outcomes.
What difference does it make anyhow?
It won’t change anyone’s vote at that point. Ballots have been cast.
And the Rats stopped conceding Presidential elections on election night back in the late 20th century.
One thing we know by now about Trump is that he always takes bait, and a "dignified, statesmanlike boilerplate response" is not in his vocabulary.
the mistake is uncritically believing anything you read on FB, twitter, or boobtube in the first place.
Whats the plan if the NT Times prints a bullshit story?
Oh, that is covered under the First Amendment.
These stories are getting pretty deep in the muck.
My big worry is that the vote counters will have a chaotic situation and just won’t know what to say about anything. And the media will jump into that vacuum and helpfully explain to everyone that “Joe won”. Once that goes out there, people will eye Trump suspiciously when he says, “Not so fast ... vote counting isn’t over ... I might stay another 4 years ...”
Trump’s refusal is just him trolling them to refuse the results when they lose.
Remember when Hillary lost her mind at the thought Trump would not accept the result. Backed her into a corner when the tables turned and she was considering not accepting the result. I think that little move prevented a drug out Bush v Gore scenario
The market will crash if Biden wins. That is the real Wall Street panic right now.
Taxes will go up.
Regulations will go up.
Liberty and personal consumption will be throttled down.
The only “boost” to commerce will be the end of the unlawful lockdowns on industry, commerce, and entertainment if Biden wins. “Coronavirus/Trump is no longer a threat!”
I don’t think either one should call it on election night. No matter how many court cases we win to prevent Dumb-O-Crats from altering election laws, there will still be a handful of states allowing ballots a few days after Nov. 3. If Trump’s initial victory is close, things could still swing the other way.
The Rat bastards are telegraphing their plan and prepping the public for the illegal stunt they’re about to try.
* Rat states will refuse to concede defeat election night, even if Pres. Trump is far ahead.
* Rat media will chime in that all the mail-in ballots have not been counted.
* Rat judges will then extend the mail-in period to count for ballots coning in after the election, without any postmark.
* Rat election officials will keep harvesting / counting ballots until they can fabricate enough votes for Biden to be declared the winner.
>> Backed her into a corner when the tables turned and she was considering not accepting the result.
She didn’t concede on election night. She got drunk, threw a fit, and her staff had to console her the next day.
Exhibit A:
About an hour ago Trump tweeted about more problems emerging with mail-in ballots. Twitter added a link saying “Learn how mail-in voting is safe and secure!”
The New York Times is among the most risible organizations on the planet.
