Although I can rebut all of my leftie associates when they claim that President Trump has lied on material issues, I'm having trouble building a response to only one. Several times this election season, the President has mentioned that he's worked with Shinzo Abe of Japan to build five new car plants in Michigan. No source that I've consulted confirms either Abe's agreement or the construction of plants. What is the truth?
Your counsel would be appreciated. Thank you.
#1 - Abe is no longer the Japanese Prime Minister so any such agreement is likely moot.
#2 - Abe led the government which has no say so over the Japanese auto industry so I don’t see why such info would come from him rather than the president of Toyota, for example.
Beyond that, I have no such recollection of a claim to that effect by Trump and that proves exactly nothing.

Looks like it never panned out
Have them list the car companies that will flock to Michigan on the election of Kamala Harris.
It’s an easy list: -3.
Just ask them about the 200 million COVID deaths over the weekend...according to Biden.
That’s 2/3 of ALL US citizens.
“Looks like it never panned out”
A Detroit Free Press article sounding like a union newsletter.
I’ve worked with automation going into quite a few different automotive companies. Unfortunately in this line of work, there are so many non-disclosure agreements it’s difficult for anyone to post anything conclusive for you. I’m between employers right now, but have had to sign NDA’s even to attend interviews and plant visits.
That being said, it does seem like there are more job openings for work in North America/US. Can’t say I’ve heard of any assembly plants planned but the battery & autonomous vehicle development still appears to be proceeding...
I believe that Trump was referring to a general announcement by Abe and then a specific announcement by Toyota that it would be building or expanding five production plants for a new electric vehicle powertrain. I assume that follow on announcements specified that the plants would be located in Michigan, clustered together so as to facilitate lean parts inventory practices.
Yet another thing I died of, it seems.
Last week I died of COVID during Joe Biden’s speech. I was hoping to get a break from this constant dying for at least a moth after that one.
Prime Minister [Shinzo] Abe, were negotiating trade deals because every country has been ripping us off for years, and I really like the prime minister, hes a friend of mine, but I said, Mr. prime minister, we gotta do something, the president told the crowd of thousands. For so many decades weve been losing tens of billions of dollars to China, and Japan, and Indiana, and name any country and we lost, but were not losing anymore.
President Donald Trump revealed at a Saturday night rally in Wisconsin that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told him earlier that Japanese auto manufacturers are investing $40 billion in U.S. manufacturing facilities.
So he never said it was a done deal at all.

But then again Covid-19 Wuhan Virus was unleashed upon the world less than a year later. So perhaps that changed everything, for everyone. Plants are not built overnight, and with economies being shattered around the globe due to hysteria created by Democrats had a disastrous effect on building new plants altogether.
I too worked in automation.... The Japanese will not allow an American company to equip their plants... They will allow bids to be solicited, but will not sign or issue a contract to an American company.... They will hire Americans to work in the plants, under Japanese supervision.....
Don’t forget the 150,000,000 Americans killed by gun violence, as well.
That’s 350,000,000 dead Americans. I’m sure they’ll all vote (D) this year, too.
/Seriously, imagine a vote total of 600,000,000 votes in Nov, 2020 -— that is honestly about what I expect to happen.
